Mitsuko Uchida Kicks Off Two-Year Survey of Schubert Piano Sonatas at Carnegie Hall

Renowned pianist Mitsuko Uchida—deemed one of the great Schubert interpreters of our time—begins a two-year survey of Schubert piano sonatas at Carnegie Hall with a solo recital in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage onMonday, February 26 at 8:00 p.m. The all-Schubert program includes his piano sonatas in C Minor, D. 958; A Major, D. 664; and G Major, D. 894.

Viggo Mortensen, Kat Von D, Francois Girard, Ute Lemper And Sondra Radvanovsky Among The Jurors For The Twelfth Glenn Gould Prize

Academy Award-nominated actor, painter, poet, and musician Viggo Mortensen (United States/Denmark) will chair the international jury panel for the twelfth Glenn Gould Prize which includes tattoo and makeup artist, musician, entrepreneur and television personality Kat Von D (United States); Academy and Grammy Award-winning director of film, opera and theatre, and accomplished screenwriter Francois Girard (Canada); singer and actress Ute Lemper (Germany); writer and former Chief Justice The Right Honourable Beverly McLachlin (Canada); painter Naeemeh Naeemaei (Iran); acclaimed soprano Sondra Radvanovsky (Canada/United States); Academy Award-winning composer and conductor Howard Shore, OC (Canada); kora virtuoso and composer Foday Musa Suso (Gambia/United States); and award-winning composer and Chairman of the China Musicians' Association Professor Ye Xiaogang (China).

David Robertson Named Juilliard Director of Conducting

Juilliard today announced conductor David Robertson as director of conducting studies, distinguished visiting faculty at Juilliard. As part of his new role, Mr. Robertson will be the principal teacher for all conducting degree students at the school. He will work with three or four students per academic year and will personally audition prospective students.

Violinist Olivia De Prato Releases Debut Solo Album STREYA

Olivia De Prato, co-founder and first violinist of the Mivos Quartet, announces the March 2, 2018 release of her debut solo album,Streya, on New Focus Recordings. A passionate advocate for new music, De Prato chose to record music by six composers with whom she has collaborated closely since moving to New York in 2005: Samson Young, Victor Lowrie, Ned Rothenberg, Taylor Brook, Reiko Füting, and Missy Mazzoli.

Utah Symphony Announces 2018-19 Season

Music Director Thierry Fischer and President & CEO Paul Meecham today announced the Utah Symphony's 2018-19 season, with highlights including the live recording of a Berlioz album for Hyperion Records, semi-staged performances of Bernstein's "Candide" in celebration of the composer's centennial, and a cycle of Bach's six Brandenburg Concertos paired with works by the late composer Pierre Boulez. American composer Andrew Norman will be in Salt Lake City as Composer-in-Association for performances of his works and additional activities.

Daniil Trifonov Continues Perspectives Series at Carnegie Hall With Five Concerts

After a tremendously successful solo recital and performance with Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Orchestra in fall 2017, pianist Daniil Trifonov continues his Perspectives series on Tuesday, February 6 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage in collaboration with baritone Matthias Goerne as they explore Trifonov's self-described fascination with vocal music. The program includes Schumann's Dichterliebe; Berg's Four Songs, Op. 2; Wolf's Three Poems of Michelangelo; selections from Shostakovich's Suite, Op. 145; and Brahms's Vier ernste Ges nge, Op. 121.

'Foreign Bodies' Multidisciplinary Event Conducted and Hosted by Esa-Pekka Salonen

The New York Philharmonic announces Foreign Bodies, a one-night-only multidisciplinary event conducted and hosted by Esa-Pekka Salonen, concluding his tenure as The Marie-Jos e Kravis Composer-in-Residence. The concert, Friday, June 8, 2018, at 8:00 p.m., will feature Esa-Pekka Salonen's Foreign Bodies, accompanied by the World Premiere of a live video installation by Tal Rosner; Dan el Bjarnason's Violin Concerto, with Pekka Kuusisto in his New York Philharmonic debut; and Obsidian Tear, a dance work choreographed by Wayne McGregor performed by members of the Boston Ballet (Philharmonic debut) and set to Mr. Salonen's Nyx and Lachen verlernt. Foreign Bodies will be casual and multi-sensory; drinks and conversation will flow as attendees mingle with the performers, who will give additional impromptu performances throughout the event.

Hailed as an artist who means every note he plays (New York Times), internationally acclaimed pianist Jeffrey Siegel brings power and passion to his celebrated Keyboard Conversations returning to Folsom for his seventh season. He has been called The Leonard Bernstein of the piano (Chicago Tribune). This January, Mr. Siegel will present THE EXOTIC MUSIC OF THE NIGHT.
