There are two things you should know about me: I am a musical theatre lover, and I love to schmooze with actors and composers. I am very fortunate to live in the DC area where our theatre community is growing by leaps and bounds. There are so many productions opening in September in DC, Maryland and Virginia theatres, my head is spinning trying to figure out which ones I will see.

Glorious! is a comedy by Peter Quilter, presented and produced by Dominion Stage. The show is directed by Patrick M. Doneghy and stage managed by David M. Moretti. The joyful Florence Foster Jenkins had a passion for singing, but a voice of disastrous proportions which left audiences crying with laughter. Spinning from her bizarre recording sessions, unbelievable recitals and an ultimate triumph at New York's Carnegie Hall - this is a true, heart-warming story about a group of eccentric friends who lived their dreams.

Mr. Quilter is author of the 2006 Aurora Theatre hit Glorious!, the heartwarming comedy based on the true story of Florence Foster Jenkins, the worst singer in the world. Representing the baby boomer generation, Duets is five vignettes performed by two actors that explores the lighter side of romance and relationships. Emmy- and Tony Award-winning actor Judd Hirsch, currently appearing in the CBS TV network series NUMB3RS, will recreate his role as well as direct 'Art,' the 1998 Tony Award for Best Play, at Shadowland Theatre, known for its powerful productions of classics, contemporary and new plays.

CanStage announces the line-up for 2006/07 including a return engagement of THE OVERCOAT!

The nominations have been released for the 2006 Laurence Olivier Awards. The ceremony for this year's awards will take place at the Park Lane Hilton on February, 2006. Leading the pack this year are Billy Elliot with nine nominations, and Guys and Dolls with eight.

Maureen Lipman will be playing the worst singer in the world on stage at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre this Autumn in a new play, Glorious, based on the life of Florence Foster Jenkins.
