With performances only beginning last week, David Mirvish and The Royal Shakespeare Company and The Dodgers are delighted to announce that popular demand for the Canadian premiere production of MATILDA THE MUSICAL is once again forcing them to extend its run, this time through November 27, 2016.

Starring a cast of acclaimed Canadian musical theatre performers in principal roles and three exciting young talents sharing the title role, MATILDA THE MUSICAL is produced by The Royal Shakespeare Company and The Dodgers presented in Toronto by David Mirvish as part of his 2015-16 Main Subscription Season. Performances begin Tuesday July 5 at the Ed Mirvish Theatre, with the media night scheduled forThursday, July 7 at 6:45 PM. Tickets are now available for performances until October 16, 2016.

The shortlists have been announced for The Imagination Awards, a new competition launched by the award-winning West End production of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, to encourage creativity among inventive youngsters and budding theatre designers. Entries were invited from young inventors aged 5-15, who were asked to invent a solution to a problem in the world around them, and from theatre designers aged 13-21.

Artistic Director of The Old Vic Matthew Warchus, composer and lyricist Tim Minchin, choreographer Peter Darling, and designer Rob Howell, four of the creators of the international musical sensation Matilda The Musical, have joined forces with writer Danny Rubin to collaborate on a new musical based on his 1993 hit film GROUNDHOG DAY. tour TIME Magazine's #1 Show of 2013, MATILDA THE MUSICAL, is coming to Sioux Falls, SD.  Produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Dodgers, the first national tour of MATILDA THE MUSICAL will be coming to the Washington Pavilion Mary W. Sommervold Hall for six performances on March 22-26, 2017.

There is a shake-up in the creative team for Disney's Broadway-bound FROZEN. According to Variety, Tony winner Christopher Gattelli (NEWSIES) will join as choreographer in place of Peter Darling (MATILDA, BILLY ELLIOT). Darling reportedly departs the production due to conflicts with another new musical- GROUNDHOG DAY, which is due to premiere in London later this year.

The Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) has announced new performance dates for TIME Magazine's #1 Show of the Year, MATILDA THE MUSICAL. The award-winning production, which was previously announced as being at PPAC January 3 - 8, 2017, will now perform at the Theatre Wednesday, May 17 - Sunday, May 21, 2017.

The Royal Shakespeare Company, Louise Withers, Michael Coppel and Michael Watt announced today that Lucy Maunder will join the Australian company as Miss Honey for the Brisbane and Perth seasons of MATILDA THE MUSICAL.

Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, Langley Park Productions and Neal Street Productions announced today that two-time Tony Award winner Christian Borle (Something Rotten, Peter and the Starcatcher) will originate the role of Willy Wonka in the Broadway premiere of Roald Dahl's CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY which begins performances in March 2017, at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46th Street).
