Sheffield Theatres' THE VILLAGE BIKE Begins Tonight, September 13

Written by award-winning contemporary British writer Penelope Skinner (The Sound of Heavy Rain, Sheffield Theatres and Paines Plough's co-production) and directed by Jonathan Humphreys (Happy Days), The Village Bike is a daring and hilarious play about moving to the countryside, becoming parents and growing up. Originally staged at the Royal Court in London, this will be the regional premiere of the play, continuing Sheffield Theatres' tradition of staging new writing in the Studio Theatre.

Theatre on the Fly Opens FRED'S DINER Tonight, Aug 15

The third production to be staged at the brand new pop-up theatre space in Chichester is the world premiere of a witty and disturbing thriller by Penelope Skinner, one of the UK's most highly praised emerging playwrights. The cast includes award-winning actress Cush Jumbo and Olivia Poulet.

MACBETH, A TASTE OF HONEY, DC Moore's STRAIGHT & More Set for Sheffield Theatres' New Season Sept-Jan

A season of high drama and razor-sharp comedy takes to the stage this autumn as Sheffield Theatres unveils its new season from September 2012 - January 2013. The season opens with Sheffield Theatres' Artistic Director Daniel Evans directing a new production of Shakespeare's Macbeth, followed by the regional premiere of Penelope Skinner's The Village Bike and a major revival of Shelagh Delaney's seminal work, A Taste of Honey. Other highlights include the world premiere of DC Moore's latest play Straight, and a major revival of the classic musical My Fair Lady at Christmas.

THE ROUNDABOUT SEASON to Play Shoreditch Town Hall This Autumn

Sheffield Theatres and Paines Plough transfer the trio of plays about love, life and the world to Shoreditch Town Hall for a London run ahead of a national tour. The Roundabout Season will run from Wednesday 19 September to Saturday 27 October and features One Day When We Were Young by Nick Payne, Lungs by Duncan MacMillan and The Sound of Heavy Rain by Penelope Skinner.

2010 London Evening Standard Awards Announces Long List

The Evening Standard Theatre Awards, established in 1955, are presented annually for outstanding achievements in London Theatre. Sponsored by the Evening Standard newspaper, the 2010 Awards will be presented at the Savory on November 28, 2010. The short list of the 2010 nominees will be released one week prior to the ceremony.

Bush Theatre Announces Season Of New Plays

The Bush Theatre has announced its new season of plays, comprising 2nd May 1997, If There Is I Haven't Found It Yet, The Stefan Golaszewski Plays, The Whisky Taster and Eigengrau.
