Stephen Joseph Theatre Announces Winter Season

There's a warming winter line-up at Scarborough's Stephen Joseph Theatre this year, including a brand new play by Alan Ayckbourn and the Scarborough directorial debut of the theatre's new Artistic Director, Paul Robinson.

AND THEN COME THE NIGHTJARS Embarks On UK Tour

And Then Come The Nightjars, the critically acclaimed play by Bea Roberts, will be touring the UK from 14th-22nd October 2016. Directed by Paul Robinson (My Mother Said I Never Should, Land Of Our Fathers) and starring David Fielder and Nigel Hastings, this poignant and uncompromising play was a winner of Theatre503's inaugural international Playwriting Award in 2014 and is a co-production with Bristol Old Vic, in association with Tara Finney Productions.

Stephen Joseph Theatre Names New Chief Executive

Stephen joins the SJT from Arts Council England, where he has been Relationship Manager Theatre since 2011, following five years as the General Manager at the New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich. During that time he was also Festival Director for Pulse Festival, a showcase of new national and international work. Previously Stephen was producer for Stafford Festival Shakespeare and Artistic Programme Manager at the Gatehouse Theatre in Stafford.

BWW Review: MY MOTHER SAID I NEVER SHOULD, St James Theatre, April 19 2016

Twenty seven years after it was first staged in London at the Royal Court Theatre, Charlotte Keatley's My Mother Said I Never Should is finally back on stage at the St James Theatre. The most performed play ever by a female playwright, it takes the audience on a journey spanning over 40 years, focusing on the lives of four generations of women in the same family.

Maureen Lipman and Katie Brayben Cast in MY MOTHER SAID I NEVER SHOULD

National treasure Maureen Lipman (Oklahoma, Outside Edge, See How They Run) and Olivier-award winning Katie Brayben (Beautiful - The Carole King Musical, King Charles III, American Psycho) will lead the cast in Charlotte Keatley's My Mother Said I Never Should.  They will be joined by Caroline Faber (The Taming of the Shrew, The Heiress, Hangover Square) and Serena Manteghi (The Railway Children). Presented by Tiny Fires Ltd. this is the first London revival of the play in over 25 years.

Fresh from the current Welsh tour which started at the Wales Millennium Centre, Chris Urch's critically-acclaimed debut play LAND OF OUR FATHERS, directed by Paul Robinson, will embark on the English leg of its UK tour. This funny and deeply moving Welsh mining drama is packed full of blistering comedy and echoes a generation of lost voices.

St. James Studio Sets EFG London Jazz Festival Events

The St. James Studio is delighted to announce 16 events taking place over ten days in November as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival 2015. The St. James has been involved with the festival every year since the studio opened in October 2012, each year presenting more events than the last.
