This November, a triple-bill of current Blue Note artists—Kandace Springs, James Francies, and the James Carter Organ Trio—will embark on a U.S. tour of performing arts centers and theaters around the country in celebration of the 80th Anniversary of Blue Note Records. 2019 Tony winner Andre De Shields has been attending The National Black Theatre Festival® (NBTF) in Winston-Salem, N. C. since 1995. Dubbed the 'Black Theatre Holy Ground,' NBTF is the international outreach program of the North Carolina Black Repertory Company, founded by the late Larry Leon Hamlin in 1979. The Festival, also founded by Hamlin, has been held biennially since 1989. The NCBRC celebrated its 40th anniversary this year, while the NBTF celebrated its 30th.

CBS All Access, CBS' digital subscription video on-demand and live streaming service, today announced James Marsden, Amber Heard, Odessa Young and Henry Zaga have joined the cast of its original limited event series THE STAND, based on Stephen King's bestselling novel of the same name, and Stephen King will write the last chapter of the series, providing a new coda that won't be found in the book. New York playwright Allston James's drama Reverie 2.0 is a finalist in the 2019 British Theatre Challenge in London. Five winners will be produced for a week-long run, Oct. 1-5 and filmed by Mini-Mammoth Films. This year's competition drew entries from playwrights in 14 countries. London-based Sky Blue Theatre Company, John Mitton, Artistic Director, is producer of the British Theatre Challenge, now in its 8th year.
