CSC's GALILEO Extends Through March 18

Classic Stage Company's upcoming production of Bertolt Brecht's GALILEO (translated by Charles Laughton) starring Academy Award winner F. Murray Abraham, which begins previews Tuesday evening, February 1, will extend by one additional week through Sunday, March 18.

BWW Philadelphia 2011 Awards Winners Announced!

After an intense internal auditing process, the results are in for the 2011 Philadelphia Awards! This year's awards broke traffic records and we couldn't be more excited to announce the 2011 BroadwayWorld Philadelphia Award winners!

F. Murray Abraham to Lead Classic Stage Company's GALILEO, 2/1

Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick, will present Academy Award winner F. Murray Abraham in a new production of Bertolt Brecht's GALILEO, translated by Charles Laughton, and directed by Kulick, beginning performances Wednesday, February 1 at CSC (136 East 13th Street) for a limited engagement through Sunday, March 11. The official press opening for GALILEO is Sunday, February 12. Tickets for GALILEO go on sale to the public today, Tuesday, January 3.

Wilma Theater Presents the United States Premiere of Our Class

The Wilma Theater is pleased to present the United States Premiere of Our Class, written by one of Poland's leading playwrights, Tadeusz S?obodzianek (ta-DAY-use swo-bode-ZYAN-eck), in an English version by Ryan Craig, directed by the Wilma's Artistic Director Blanka Zizka.

Gávea Filmes Presents SEEWATCHLOOK On The High Line

With a grant funded by the Brazilian government, award-winning, multimedia Brazilian artist Michel Melamed has created SEEWATCHLOOK, a world premiere public play of short poetic and comic scenes to be held on the corner of Tenth Avenue and 17th Street and viewed (or SEEWATCHLOOKED) from the elevated stands and windows of the High Line's 10th Avenue Square.

2011 Barrymore Awards Honors Terrence McNally, Arden Theatre et al.; Recipients Announced

Surprise and gratitude ruled the 17th Barrymore Awards on Monday, October 3 at the Walnut Street Theatre. Presented by the Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia, the black-tie ceremony, directed by Jay Wahl and hosted by 6ABC's Rick Williams, celebrated the work of local theatre artists as well as the vibrancy of the region's theatrical offerings with 27 awards.

The Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia's 2011 Barrymore Awards for Excellence in Theatre took place on Wednesday, October 3, 2011! The nominees were selected by an independent committee of 66 voters who each saw 8 of the 147 shows nominated this year. Four additional awards-Excellence in Theatre Education and Community Service Award, the Ted and Stevie Wolf Award for New Approaches to Collaborations, Brown Martin Philadelphia Award and the F. Otto Haas Award for an Emerging Philadelphia Theatre Artist-will also be distributed at the ceremony.

David Henry Hwang to moderate Post-performance Convo at INVASION!

A post-performance conversation moderated by David Henry Hwang is set following the September 9 performance of INVASION!, Jonas Hassen Khemiri's Obie Award-winning play receiving an encore production this fall, presented by The Play Company at The Flea Theater (41 White St.) in Tribeca, it has been announced by Kate Loewald, Founding Producer, and Lauren Weigel, Executive Producer, of The Play Company.

Michelle Beck, Rebecca Brooksher, et al. Set for Public Theater's LOVE'S LABOR'S LOST

The Public Theater announced complete casting today for LOVE'S LABOR'S LOST, the second Public Lab production of the fall season. Directed by Karin Coonrod, LOVE'S LABOR'S LOST runs Tuesday, October 18 through Sunday, November 6 at The Public Theater, with an official press opening on Monday, October 31. Tickets for LOVE'S LABOR'S LOST as well as TITUS ANRONICUS go on sale on Tuesday, September 13; All tickets for Public Lab productions are $15.

INVASION! -- Jonas Hassen Khemiri's Obie Award-winning play that enjoyed considerable critical and popular success during its U.S. premiere by The Play Company last winter -- will have a return engagement Off-Broadway this fall, again presented by The Play Company, opening on September 13 at The Flea Theater (41 White Street) in Manhattan, where PlayCo will be based for the 2011-12 season, it has been announced by Kate Loewald, Founding Producer, and Lauren Weigel, Executive Producer of The Play Company. Erica Schmidt will again direct.
