The American Foundation for Equal Rights (AFER) and Broadway Impact have announced the addition of Golden Globe-winner and Academy and Emmy Award-nominee Brad Pitt to the cast of the West Coast premiere reading of the play '8.' The reading is an unprecedented account of the Federal District Court trial in Perry v. Schwarzenegger (now Perry v. Brown), the case filed by AFER to overturn Proposition 8, which stripped gay and lesbian Californians of the right to marry. Watch the video announcement below.

The first BROADWAY BALLYHOO devoted exclusively to the singers from one Broadway show features three of the stars from GODSPELL: Morgan James, Telly Leung, and Julia Mattison. They will perform an evening of all Broadway show tunes, including a sampling from their hit show, on March 1st at 11pm.

Freedom to Marry, the campaign to win marriage nationwide, hosted a Valentine's Day fundraising event with the Interbank Roundtable called 'Get Engaged!' at XL Nightclub on Thursday night. The party included a VIP cocktail reception from 5-6 pm with special guests including Tony© Winners Audra McDonald of Porgy and Bess, and Nikki M. James of Book of Mormon, along with Nick Adams of Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Rory O'Malley of Book of Mormon, and Max won Essen of Evita.

Is it possible to recreate someone else's authenticity seven times a week doing the same Off-Broadway show? If last Saturday night's performance of Gob Squad's Kitchen (You've Never Had It So Good) is any indication, the answer is a resounding... I'm not sure. But in any case, the lighthearted madness inhabiting The Public Theater's Newman space, devised by the German/British theatrical squad named in the title, makes for a rollicking good time.
