Photo Flash: In Rehearsal with Nikki M. James and More for LCT3's PRELUDES

Eisa Davis, Gabriel Ebert, Nikki M. James, Joseph Keckler, Chris Sarandon, and Or Matias, on piano, just started rehearsals for the LCT3/Lincoln Center Theater production of PRELUDES, a new musical by Dave Malloy, inspired by the music of Sergei Rachmaninov, developed with and directed by Rachel Chavkin. PRELUDES, a world premiere and the first musical to be produced by LCT3 in the Claire Tow Theater, begins performances Today, May 23, opens Monday, June 15, and will run through Sunday, July 19 at the Claire Tow Theater (150 West 65th Street). Broadway in Cincinnati Adds THE BOOK OF MORMON and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST to Season

Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Cincinnati presented by TriHealth announces by popular demand, THE BOOK OF MORMON, which played a record breaking three week run in 2014 returns to Cincinnati for a limited engagement March 29 - April 3, 2016 and the smash hit Broadway musical, DISNEY'S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST will play a strictly limited engagement April 20 - 24, 2016. Ticket package holders receive priority ticket opportunities to all shows, so a season package is the best way to guarantee seats to THE BOOK OF MORMON and DISNEY'S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. Tickets for both shows will be made available to Season Subscribers and group ticket buyers in the next two weeks.  Single tickets will be available for sale at a later date. THE BOOK OF MORMON and DISNEY'S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST join the previously announced 2015-2016 Season shows of MOTOWN THE MUSICAL, PIPPIN, Irving Berlin's WHITE CHRISTMAS, KINKY BOOTS, IF/THEN, Disney's NEWSIES, and CABARET.

Lottery Policy Set for THE BOOK OF MORMON's Run at Marcus Center

THE BOOK OF MORMON, winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, has announced a lottery ticket policy for the National Tour, which begins May 19 at the Marcus Center in Milwaukee and plays a limited two- week engagement through May 31. In Milwaukee, the production will conduct a pre-show lottery at the box office, making a limited number of tickets available at $25 a piece. Entry forms will be available two and half hours prior to each performance in the Marcus Center Box Office Lobby at 929 North Water Street. The drawing will take place two hours prior to each performance and entrants must be present to win.

TV: On the Red Carpet for Opening Night of DOCTOR ZHIVAGO!

Based on Boris Pasternak's Nobel Prize-winning 20th-century epic Russian masterpiece, Doctor Zhivago is directed by Des McAnuff (Jersey Boys), with a book by Michael Weller (Ragtime), music byLucy Simon (The Secret Garden), lyrics by Michael Korie (Grey Gardens) and Amy Powers (Ella Enchanted), and choreography by Kelly Devine (Rocky). The musical officially opened at the Broadway Theatre last night, April 21, 2015, and BroadwayWorld'S Richard Ridge was on the red carpet before the curtain went up, and below, you can check out interviews with Nikki M. THE BOOK OF MORMON, winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, is pleased to announce a lottery ticket policy for the National Tour, which begins Wednesday, April 15 at 2pm at the SHN Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco and plays through Saturday, June 27, 2015. In San Francisco, the production will conduct a pre-show lottery at the box office, making a limited number of tickets available at $29 apiece.

Yesterday, The Tony Awards hosted 'Broadway in Hollywood,' a cocktail party to toast the Broadway community in Los Angeles. The night paid tribute to the honorees of past Tony Awards and friends from the Great White Way. 'If music be the food of love, play on.' Even before the invention of the musical comedy (more on that later), William Shakespeare knew the importance of music in telling stories on stage. For our March feature, my colleague Jeff Walker and I thought that instead of marking the Ides of March with songs about murder, betrayal, and fate, we would focus on the synergy between showtunes and Shakespeare.
