The Public Theater will kick off the 2016-17 season in September with a free Public Works musical adaptation of TWELFTH NIGHT, conceived by Kwame Kwei-Armah and Shaina Taub, with music and lyrics by Shaina Taub. On July 21st, the students of Broadway Artists Alliance of NYC were tearfully overjoyed by a surprise visit from Hamilton star Renee Elise Goldsberry. Recently winning a Tony Award and Grammy for her role as Angelica Schuyler, Goldsberry spoke about the incredible journey that Hamilton has taken from workshopping a concept, to performing at The Public and moving to the Richard Rodgers Theatre, to earning 16 Tony nominations and winning a Pulitzer Prize. The International Rescue Committee (IRC) just hosted its 6th Annual GenR Summer Party. GenR, short for Generation Rescue, is a group of young and influential humanitarians who have joined forces with the IRC to help people affected by crisis to survive and rebuild their lives. Proceeds from this event support the IRC's critical humanitarian work.
