3rd Annual CHICAGO MUSICAL THEATRE FESTIVAL to be Held in August

Underscore Theatre Company is pleased to announce the full line-up for its third annual CHICAGO MUSICAL THEATRE FESTIVAL, featuring 14 new musical productions. Created to showcase and support Chicago's burgeoning field of musical theatre creators, this year's festival will be held August 8 - 28, 2016 at Victory Gardens Richard Christiansen Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Ave. in Chicago. Each production will receive four performances during the Festival. The full schedule (Tuesdays - Sundays) can be found at www.cmtf.org, with single tickets and festival passes currently on-sale. The press preview, featuring songs from all of the 2016 productions, is Monday, August 8 at 7:30 pm.

KAREN OLIVO, who electrified audiences with her Tony Award-winning portrayal of Anita in the 2009 Broadway revival of WEST SIDE STORY, returns to the stage as the brilliant and beautiful Angelica Schuyler in the Chicago production of HAMILTON, it has been announced by producer Jeffrey Seller. Joining Ms. Olivo in Chicago are Broadway veterans MIGUEL CERVANTES as Alexander Hamilton, and ALEXANDER GEMIGNANI as King George III.

WBT to Present MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET

The international smash hit musical, MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET is set on December 4, 1956, when an auspicious twist of fate brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley together. Sam Phillips, the "Father of Rock 'n' Roll" who was responsible for launching the careers of each icon, brought the four legendary musicians together at the Sun Records studio in Memphis for the first and only time. The resulting evening became known as one of the greatest rock 'n' roll jam sessions in history.

Megan McGinnis-Led SENSE AND SENSIBILITY Begins Tonight at The Old Globe

The Old Globe presents the West Coast premiere of Paul Gordon's delightfully romantic new musical SENSE AND SENSIBILITY, developed with Rick Boynton and presented in association with Chicago Shakespeare Theater, where it was commissioned and had its world premiere in April 2015.

Lesli Margherita & PJ Griffith to Lead A SCYTHE OF TIME at NYMF

?The new musical, A SCYTHE OF TIME will be presented as part of the New York Musical Theatre festival at the June Havoc Theatre (312 W 36th Street). A Scythe of Time is written by Alan Harris with music and lyrics by Mark Alan Swanson. It will be directed by David Alpert (IF/THEN), with musical direction by Ryan Cantwell (National Tour: Pippin, Finding Neverland).  It will begin performances on July 21 and will run through July 26, 2016. Tickets are $27.50 and can be purchased by visiting NYMF.org.

In honor of NYC Pride, Joel is re-airing 'RSVP,' his original musical about a closeted science fiction writer, set in the 1970s. 'RSVP' - a chamber musical. Book, Music, and Lyrics by Joel B. New. Directed by Lori Wolter Hudson. Cast: Greg Etling as 'Michael Walker,' Jenny Neale as 'Susan,' Scott Guthrie as 'The Stranger.' The New York Musical Festival and Laura Yosowitz, Vital Arts Collaborative are pleased to announce Josh Davis (Beautiful) will play Joseph in THE GOLD, a new musical about one man's fight for love, family and country, with book by Andrea Lepcio and Phil Yosowitz, music and lyrics by Phil Yosowitz, music supervision by Steven Jamail and direction by Spiro Veloudos.

Brandon Ivie Named Associate Artistic Director at Village Theatre

New York/Seattle-based director Brandon Ivie (Jasper in Deadland, Lizard Boy) has been named as the new Associate Artistic Director of Village Theatre. Ivie's main role will be as creative lead on new musical development through the company's Village Originals program, beginning July 1.
