Photo Flash: THE HAPPY EMBALMER

THE HAPPY EMBALMER -- a World-Premiere new musical with book, music and lyrics by Mark Noonan and Nick Oddy, directed and choreographed by Kelly Devine -- is presented by The New York Musical Theatre Festival, starting October 6, 2009 at Theatre Row's Acorn Theatre (410 West 42nd Street, btw 9th and 10th Avenues) in New York City.

Movie stars are sainted, anti-depressants are mandatory, and a tiny computer resides in every good citizen's brain. My Illustrious Wasteland-equal parts sci-fi epic, social satire, and high-energy rock show-is an exhilarating ride through a wildly imagined future America. Watch as virtual lovers Mogs and Sunny encounter ghoulish tabloid reporters, pushy pop-up windows, terrorist hippies, drug-pushing clergy, and a ruthless Hollywood bad-boy President who presides over his perpetually distracted public.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) & Shea Sullivan presents R.R.R.E.D. A Secret Musical at the 45th Street Theater. Based on a true study, R.R.R.E.D., with music & lyrics by Katie Thompson & book by Adam Jackman, Patrick Livingston & Katie Thompson, is directed by Andy Sandberg (Tony Award winning Producer of Hair), with musical supervision by Charlie Alterman (Next to Normal).

ALL FALL DOWN Opens 10/9 At The 45th Street Theatre

'All Fall Down', directed by Lonny Price ('A Class Act') and Matt Cowart (Assistant Director, '110 in the Shade'), opens this Friday, October 9th at the 45th Street Theatre. This new musical, which stars two-time Tony Award nominee ('42nd Street', 'On the Town') and Drama Desk nominee ('Xanadu') Mary Testa along with Jenn Colella ('Urban Cowboy'), Charlie Pollock ('9 to 5', 'Urinetown') and Casey Predovic, has already sold out select performances.

PLAGUED Makes NYMF Debut Friday, 10/9

NYMF's OPEN THE DARK DOOR Opens 10/8

Open The Dark Door, the indie rock musical by David Lefort Nugent that confronts the modern American justice system, begins it's NYMF run October 8th at the American Theatre of Actors, running through October 17th. Starring in the production at the 2009 New York Musical Theatre Festival are Broadway's Mary Ellen Ashley (Annie Get Your Gun), Paul Kandel (Tommy, Titanic, Jesus Christ Superstar), Laura Jordan (Cry Baby), and Andrew McGinn (Coast of Utopia). The production features direction from Susanna Gellert (Fugue States at PS 122).

TJMTC Performs ANJOU, A TALE OF HORROR 10/8 Thru 10/12

The New York Musical Theatre Festival and the Thomas Jefferson Musical Theatre Company of Mexico City with Executive Producer Jane Bergère will present the American Premiere of ANJOU, A Tale Of Horror, October 8th at 8:00 pm, October 9th at 1:00 pm, October 11th at 8:00 pm, and October 12th at 1:00 pm - The Theater at St. Clements, 423 West 46th St. - part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival.

Chase Brock Experience Presents AMERICAN SADNESS At Abrons Arts Center 10/8-11

Chase Brock works in reverse of conventional modern dance choreographers who take aim at Broadway only after establishing themselves on the 'serious' concert dance stage. Brock, who began his career at age 16 on the Great White Way in 'The Music Man,' recently committed his prodigious talent to modern dance.

WHATVER MAN runs September 29th at 8:00pm, September 30th at 1:00pm, October 2nd at 7:30pm, October 3rd at 1:00 pm, October 4th 8:00pm, and October 8th at 1:00pm at the 45th Street Theatre (354 W. 45th Street).

The New York Musical Theatre Festival is proud to present the World Premiere of David Ingber's Bromatic Comedy, Fantasy Football: The Musical?, directed by Adam Arian with musical direction by Brian Usifer and choreography by Nancy Renee Braun. TJMTC Performs ANJOU, A TALE OF HORROR 10/8 Thru 10/12

TJMTC accepted the invitation and selected a Mexican play, The Opera Pop: 'Anjou, a tale of horror' (Guillermo Mendez and Lupita Sandoval). Inspired in a page of the French history of the XVI century during the religious wars, it is based on the historic personages and novelizes some of the most sordid events of the history to develop a musical where the politics and the passions interweave themselves for lead to an electrifying work.

NYMF Continues ASCAP Foundation Education Series 10/8 & 10/15

The New York Musical Theatre Festival continues its partnership with ASCAP to present the its annual Educational Series at Barnes and Noble Booksellers at Lincoln Triangle, 1972 Broadway at 66th Street. The remaining two educational seminars are FREE with seating based on space and availability.
