Peter Nero and the Philly Pops celebrates Mario Lanza 4/21-25

'Be My Love'-and be there as Peter Nero and the Philly Pops pays tribute to Philadelphia's favorite son, Mario Lanza, with The Great American Tenor. From his wild, fiery Philadelphia youth to his MGM Hollywood blockbusters, Lanza's tenor was one in ten million.

Yale Rep Presents BATTLE OF BLACK AND DOGS, Opens 4/22

The American Repertory Theater is pleased to announce the cast for Johnny Baseball, a world premiere musical about the Red Sox, with music by Robert Reale, lyrics by Willie Reale, book by Richard Dresser, story by Richard Dresser and Willie Reale, with musical direction and vocal arrangements by Wendy Bobbitt Cavett; musical arrangements by Bruce Coughlin.

Brooklyn Museum Announces Public Programs For May & June

During May and June the Brooklyn Museum will present a variety of public programs for adults including a panel discussion about pioneering female classical musicians, a fashion showcase featuring Brooklyn designers, a performance by the Brooklyn Philharmonic, and a symposium about the historic collaboration that has resulted in the Brooklyn Museum Costume Collection at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Hearn Joins LuPone & Stokes Mitchell in ANNIE...GUN for Ravinia Fest., 8/13

As previously announced, this year's Ravinia Festival includes a new production of the musical Annie Get Your Gun; a gala concert celebrating Stephen Sondheim's 80th birthday and featuring highlights from Ravinia's Sondheim productions; Ravinia Music Director James Conlon's 60th birthday celebration taking the Chicago Symphony Orchestra into the Martin Theatre for two Mozart operas, featuring mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade in Così fan tutte and baritone Nathan Gunn in The Marriage of Figaro; Leonard Bernstein's Vocal Suite from Candide; Broadway vocalist Kelli O'Hara and pianist Hershey Felder in intimate solo shows in the Martin Theatre; world premieres with Concert Dance, Inc. and the debut of Delfos Danza Contemporánea; the presentation of Ballet Folklorico de Mexico; and a national radio broadcast of Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion. Today, the Ravinia organization revealed that George Hearn has been added to the cast of Annie Get Your Gun as Buffalo Bill Cody, joining Patti LuPone as Annie Oakley and Brian Stokes Mitchell as Frank Butler. Paul Gemignani will conduct the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for the show's three performances, Aug. 13-15. Hearn and LuPone also reunite with Michael Cerveris, Audra McDonald and the CSO for an all-Sondheim gala concert on July 31.

Guthrie Opens Season With THE MASTER BUTCHERS SINGING CLUB, Schedule Set 5/18

Director Joe Dowling today announced the Guthrie Theater's 2010-2011 season will begin with the world premiere of a new play by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Marsha Norman. The Master Butchers Singing Club, adapted from the novel by Minnesota author Louise Erdrich, opens on the Wurtele Thrust Stage of the Guthrie Theater in September under the direction of Francesca Zambello.

Hit Series 'Opera Grows In Brooklyn' Returns To Galapagos Art Space 4/16

Two Brooklyn opera companies, AMERICAN OPERA PROJECTS (AOP) and OPERA ON TAP, will present the fourth installment of its Opera Grows in Brooklyn series, an evening of three 30-minute opera scenes and songs. The program will feature mezzo-soprano Abigail Fischer singing Absynth, a futuristic monodrama made up of newly-commissioned electronic songs from composers Nico Muhly, Andrew Staniland, and others; Clint Borzoni's new one-act opera Margot Alone in the Light, based on a Ray Bradbury short story; and Dreams of Pure Spirit: Songs of Tom Cipullo with the composer at the piano. The show will be held on Friday, April 16 at 8pm at Galapagos Art Space in Brooklyn's DUMBO neighborhood.

Chicago Opera Theater Announces Their 2011 Spring Festival Season

On March 25, 2010, General Director Brian Dickie announced Chicago Opera Theater's (COT) 2011 Spring Festival Season: the Midwest Premiere of Tod Machover's Death and the Powers, the Chicago Premiere of Marc-Antoine Charpentier's Medea (Médée), and 'HE/SHE' featuring Leoš Janá?ek's The Diary of One Who Disappeared (Zápisník zmizelého) and Robert Schumann's A Woman's Love and Life (Frauenliebe und Leben).

Rehearsals begin yesterday, Monday, April 5 for the World Premiere production of PARADISE FOUND, a new musical under the combined direction of Theater legend and 21-time Tony Award winner Harold Prince (the original productions of Cabaret, Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music, The Phantom of the Opera, Company, Follies, Evita) and 5-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman (Crazy For You, Show Boat, The Producers, Contact). This is their first collaboration since the landmark, Tony Award-winning revival of Show Boat. Following the New York rehearsal period, the production will open at London's acclaimed Menier Chocolate Factory with performances running May 19 through June 26. Kennedy, Campbell, Von Essen et. al Set for Canal Room Concert, 4/4

Lauren Kennedy will perform at The Canal Room on April 4th for a concert entitled 'Lauren Kennedy and the Freakers Ball.' Kennedy will be joined by a number of Broadway veterans, including Julia Burrows, Michelle Kinney, Alan Campbell, Gina Stewart, and Max Von Essen. The concert will begin at 8:00pm.

Signature Theatre Closes the Curtain on SWEENEY TODD, 4/4

The Tony Award®-winning Signature Theatre, nationally known for its interpretation of Stephen Sondheim musicals, celebrated its 20th anniversary season by presenting Sondheim's most popular musical SWEENEY TODD, directed by Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer. The production will end its run in the 276-seat MAX Theater, April 4, 2010.

Rebecca Brooksher, Jeffrey Carlson & More End Run In The Kennedy Center's GOLDEN AGE, 4/4

The Kennedy Center will end its run of Golden Age, a new play by Terrence McNally, on April 4th. Following its world premiere with the Philadelphia Theatre Company ran in the Kennedy Center Family Theater as part of Terrence McNally's Nights at the Opera, a five-week event featuring three of the playwright's works performed concurrently on three Kennedy Center stages.
