SITI Company's Bob Plays NY Fine Arts 1/19-29

For its third New York season, director Anne Bogart and SITI Company celebrate the 70th birthday year of Robert Wilson with the revival of the Obie Award-winning one-man tour-de-force, Bob. Inspired by the creative life and times of the internationally acclaimed avant-garde theater director, Bob will run at New York Live Arts, January 19-29, 2012.

Signature Theatre Presents AMVP: Next Generation Honorees Showcase, 12/4

In July 2010, Signature Theatre continued its dedication to supporting new voices in the theater by awarding special Next Generation 'honoree grants' to composers Joshua Schmidt (Adding Machine, A Minister's Wife) and Joshua Rosenblum (Einstein's Dreams, Fermat's Last Tango) to develop new works for the theatre - and on December 4th at 8:00pm, both Mr. Schmidt and Mr. Rosenblum will be sharing selections from projects they are currently working on from their commissions.

NYC Opera Sets Details For Rufus Wainwright Concert 11/17

New York City Opera today announced concert details for Who Are You New York?: The Songs of Rufus Wainwright - a one-night only concert on Thursday, November 17 at 8:00pm at the Rose Theater in Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center.

The Joyce Hosts Dance Talks With Martha Clarke & Alfred Uhry

In advance of the highly anticipated New York premiere of Angel Reapers, the new dance/theater/music piece with text by Alfred Uhry and direction and choreography by Martha Clarke, the two creators will sit down with Gideon Lester (Director of Columbia University's Arts Collaboration Lab) to discuss this provocative work on Monday, November 21 from 6pm-8pm at Joyce SoHo (155 Mercer Street, between Houston and Prince).

Julliard Presents KOMMILITONEN! Opera Nov. 16-20

This November, in Juilliard School's Peter Jay Sharp Theater, Anne Manson will conduct the U.S. premiere of Sir Peter Maxwell Davies' Kommilitonen! (Young Blood!) - an opera co-commissioned by Juilliard and the Royal Academy of Music - which received its world premiere in London this past March to remarkable critical acclaim. The production opens Juilliard's 2011-12 Vocal Arts season on Wednesday, November 16 at 8 PM, with additional performances on Friday, November 18 at 8 PM and Sunday, November 20 at 2 PM. David Pountney, librettist of the opera, provides stage direction, sets and costumes are by Robert Innes Hopkins, and choreography is by Carolum Choa.

Michael Ball & Imelda Staunton Led SWEENEY TODD Headed to West End & Broadway?

Baz Bamigboye reports in today's UK Daily Mail that the hit production of the Chichester Festival Theatre's SWEENEY TODD, starring Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton will indeed, as rumored, transfer to the West End's Adelphi Theatre, beginning on March 10, 1012. The transfer is said to have been approved by Stephen Sondheim who saw the show last week, and delayed a return trip home to see the production a second time. The paper notes that 'he considers the Chichester Sweeney to be a landmark production and would like it, and its two stars, to go to New York.'

The Joyce Theater Foundation Presents ANGEL REAPERS 11/29-12/11

The Joyce Theater Foundation will present the NYC premiere of Angel Reapers, a new dance/theater piece with text by Alfred Uhry and direction and choreography by Martha Clarke for a two-week limited run from November 29 - December 11.

REBECCA to Play Broadhurst Theatre Opening April 2012; Sierra Boggess Now Confirmed to Star!

Producers Ben Sprecher, Louise Forlenza, The Shubert Organization, Peter Bezemes, Tony Fusco, Larry Feinman, Nanda Anand and Peter Bogyo by special arrangement with/and based on the Vereinigte Buhnen Wien GmbH production, announced that the new musical REBECCA, based on the classic novel by Daphne du Maurier novel, will open on Broadway Sunday, April 22 at The Broadhurst Theatre (235 West 44th Street). Previews will begin Tuesday, March 27. Sierra Boggess (The Little Mermaid, Love Never Dies, Master Class and as Christine in last month's 25th Anniversary Concert of The Phantom of the Opera in London) will play the lead role of 'I'. Additional casting will be announced in the coming weeks.
