Carnegie Hall Presents George Manahan and the American Composers Orchestra, Today

Carnegie Hall presents Music Director George Manahan and the American Composers Orchestra (ACO) on Today, October 28 at 7:30 p.m., in the first of two concerts in Zankel Hall this season as part of the orchestra's 40th anniversary. The concert, a Halloween-themed program titled Orchestra Underground: Contempo-Scary Music, includes two world premieres: Paul Moravec's "The Overlook Hotel Suite" from The Shining, featuring music from his new opera based on the classic Stephen King horror novel, and Judith Shatin's Black Moon for Orchestra and Conductor-Controlled Electronics, co-commissioned by Carnegie Hall for its 125 Commissions Project. The program also features electrifying music from Bernard Herrmann's Psycho Suite-from Alfred Hitchcock's legendary film-and David Del Tredici's Dracula. Guest artists include soprano and narrator Nancy Lundy and electronic engineer Maxwell Tfirn.

GK Arts Center Presents Gelsey Kirkland Ballet's THE NUTCRACKER

GK Arts Center is proud to host Gelsey Kirkland Ballet's perennial holiday classic, The Nutcracker. This is the fourth year this production of The Nutcracker will be performed over the course of a special two-week engagement, running December 8-18 at the GK Arts Center (29 Jay Street, formerly St. Ann's Warehouse in Dumbo, Brooklyn, N.Y.).  The 18-member company is under the artistic direction of Gelsey Kirkland and Michael Chernov.

Saint Thomas Choir of Men & Boys Presents F.J. Haydn's Oratorio THE CREATION

On Today, October 27, 2016 at 7:30pm the Saint Thomas Choir of Men and Boys and Orchestra of St. Luke's present Haydn's The Creation oratorio in the opening concert of the 2016/17 season. Displaying Haydn's unfussy optimism, The Creation features some of the most memorable and life-enhancing music ever written. Soloists include soprano Ellie Dehn who sings the parts of Gabriel and Eve. Versatile tenor Thomas Cooley sings Uriel and bass Craig Phillips sings the parts of Raphael and Adam.

Metropolitan Opera Soprano Heidi Grant Murphy Performs Solo Recital

Soprano Heidi Grant Murphy, who sang major roles with the Metropolitan Opera for almost 25 years, returns to theChamber Music Society of Detroit series for a recital with pianist Kevin Murphy Sunday, November 13, 2016 at 3:00 PM.  The concert takes place at Oakland University's Varner Recital Hall, located on the Oakland University campus at 2200 N. Squirrel Road in Rochester.  The program includes songs and arias by Schumann, Debussy, Strauss, Puccini, Copland and Obradors.  Tickets are priced at $30 for adults and $15 for students, and may be purchased by phone at248-855-6070 or online at www.CMSDetroit.org.

Ghostly Post-Holocaust Chamber Opera LADY OF THE CASTLE Set for TNC

MasterVoices to Present New York Premiere of 27 at New York City Center

MasterVoices (formerly The Collegiate Chorale) will celebrate its 75th anniversary during the 2016-2017 season, beginning with the New York premiere of Ricky Ian Gordon and Royce Vavrek's 27, specially adapted for MasterVoices, on October 20 and 21, 2016 at 8pm at New York City Center, 131 W. 55th Street, New York City.

Mike Albo Returns to Dixon Place This October

Dixon Place's (Ellie Covan, Founding & Artistic Director) recent commission SPERMHOOD returns by popular demand and begins performances Tuesday, October 11th 7:30 pm. Based on his Amazon Kindle bestseller, Spermhood: Diary of a Donor, writer and performer Mike Albo,  comes back to Dixon Place with his hilarious account of the year he spent donating sperm for his friends.

Neville Dance Theatre to Present EXPOSED in Brooklyn This Fall

Neville Dance Theatre, a NY-based theatrical dance company with contemporary innovation, presents the works of Brenda Neville and guest choreographers Billy Blanken and Ursula Verduzco. The program, titled EXPOSED, will feature four world premieres-ensemble works Exposed and Blessed by Neville, Epidermis a duet by Verduzco, and Brahm's Double Concerto a quintet by Blanken. EXPOSED will have two performances on November 5 at 3:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at The Actors Fund Arts Center in Brooklyn.

Doug Varone and Dancers to Premiere New Piece at The PAC Next Month

THE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER, PURCHASE COLLEGE (PAC) is gearing up for November, which begins with a World-Premiere from one of their own, Purchase alum and professor in the Conservatory of Dance, Doug Varone and Dancers celebrating their 30th Anniversary season with a new co-commissioned piece by The PAC.

Local Choruses to Unite with S.B. Symphony for Monumental Performances of Beethoven's Ninth

The Santa Barbara Symphony, under the baton of Maestro Nir Kabaretti, will assemble singers from throughout the region for grandly thrilling performances of Beethoven's jubilant and inspiring Symphony No. 9 at the Granada Theatre on October 15 and 16. Also featuring Rapture, a shimmering orchestral work by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Christopher Rouse, the season-opening concerts will take place at 8 pm on Today, October 15, and at 3 pm onSunday, October 16. PSO Guest Conductor Jayce Ogren to Talk Tchaikovsky's 'Pathetique' Symphony

On Wednesday, November 2 at 7 pm, in partnership with the Princeton Public Library, the Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) presents a discussion of Tchaikovsky's Sixth Symphony with PSO guest conductor Jayce Ogren in the library's Community Room. Mr. Ogren offers insights into conducting the symphony and touches upon the controversial interpretations surrounding its nickname-'Pathetique.'
