Lee Cortopassi's THE BIG to Play The Sedgwick Theater This February

New York actor and Quintessence Theatre Group ensemble member Lee Cortopassi has announced a limited three-show run of THE BIG, a satirical riff on film noir for the stage at The Sedgwick Theater, after a successful stand-alone production in New York City.

Berkeley Rep Announces Casting of MONSOON WEDDING

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the casting for the world premiere of Monsoon Wedding. The musical stage production will be directed by acclaimed filmmaker Mira Nair and hosts a cast of 20 actors from around the globe.

Jen Silverman's THE MOORS to Shed Light on Women at The Playwrights Realm

Led by Founding Artistic Director Katherine Kovner and Producing Director Roberta Pereira, and following the success of Sarah DeLappe's critically acclaimed The Wolves, The Playwrights Realm continues their female-centric 10th Anniversary season with the New York Premiere of Jen Silverman's The Moors (February 27 - March 25) at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street project. Directed by Mike Donahue and riffing on the lives and works of certain 19th-century novel-writing sisters, The Moors is a dark comic examination of the ways in which women fight for visibility.

AS YOU LIKE IT, Featuring Original Music by Obie Winner Heather Christian, to Launch New Year at Folger Theatre

Folger Theatre continues its celebrated 25th anniversary season with As You Like It, one of Shakespeare's most beloved comedies. Directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch, this classic tale filled with love, laughter, and mistaken identity features original songs composed by Heather Christian and dances by Alexandra Beller. As You Like It is on stage from January 24 through March 5, 2017.

Due to Popular Demand Jill Eikenberry Returns to Feinstein's/54 Below

After her smash-hit, sold out solo debut at FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, Golden Globe Award-winner Jill Eikenberry will return on Monday, March 6th, 2017 at 7:00pm. Best known for her starring role on the NBC drama L.A. Law and Obie award winning turns in the?plays Lemon Sky and Life Under Water made her Feinstein's/54 Below debut in Songs I've Sung. Audiences will join this multi-talented artist as she sings from the soundtrack of her life - from Broadway to off- Broadway to way off-Broadway. The show will include songs by Rogers and Hart, Kurt Weill, Keith Herman, Barbara Damashek, Randy Newman, James Taylor and more. In addition, Ms. Eikenberry is joined by talented friends, including members of the Gay Men's Chorus, two-time Tony Award-winner James Naughton (City of Angels, Chicago) and her notoriously shy husband and L.A. Law co-star Michael Tucker.

Canton Symphony Launches New Group for YPs, the BEAT

There are great things coming out of the Canton Symphony Orchestra for young patrons.  This year the CSO started a new group for YPs called the BEAT.  The BEAT is a dynamic group of young patrons with a passion for the arts and a desire to make new connections.  Members receive exclusive invitations to social events, discounted concert tickets, and special backstage experiences with CSO musicians. Wendy Merkert, BEAT organizer, says, “The BEAT provides a fun, social space for young professionals in Stark County to make friends, connect with business leaders, and enhance their careers.”  She also loves that “…members get exclusive access to meet-and-greets, pre- and post-parties, and free food and drinks!”

One Catches Light Festival Kicks Off JACK's 2017 Season Tonight

Brooklyn Gypsies presents the second-annual One Catches Light Festival, celebrating new solo work of five writers associated with the company, hosted by Olander 'Big O' Wilson. Icarus in the L.E.S. is a kaleidoscopic performance-poem by Nic Adams, with the wax-winged hero chasing his destiny and scouting out the divide between artistic achievement and personal happiness.

Independent Shakespeare Co. Presents ISC's IAMBIC LAB

Independent Shakespeare Co. (ISC), presenters of the Griffith Park Free Shakespeare Festival announce a month long series of unique events and workshops to celebrate the art of theater making. ISC's iambic lab begins on Saturday, January 28, with a reading of a new version by Charles Edward Pogue of Henrik Ibsen's THE PRETENDERS, and will end on Saturday, February 25 with a preview of ISC's upcoming West Coast premiere production of Sharr White's THE SNOW GEESE. All events are at Independent Studio in the Atwater Crossing Arts + Innovation Complex, 3191 Casitas Ave., #168 in Atwater Village.

A present trend in entertainment is story telling before an audience. 'The Moth: True Stories Told Live,' is one of Public Radio's highest rated offerings. The publicity for the show states, 'The Moth is deeply rooted in the desire [of humans] to connect with each other through shared experiences in stories.' ccording to its blog site, though there are many opportunities nation-wide to experience first-hand 'The Moth' readings, none are being staged in the Cleveland area.
