Starbucks, KEXP and Seattle Theatre Group (STG) are welcoming the Little Big Show series back in 2013. This will mark the fifth concert in the series and will feature The Walkmen and Father John Misty with 100% of the proceeds benefitting Seattle's YOUTH IN FOCUS organization. In the wake of disaster caused by Hurricane Sandy, The Seattle Theatre Group will donate $5 from each ticket purchased to the November Seattle performances by New York's beloved Dance Theatre of Harlem, starting today. Ra Ra Riot's third album Beta Love is set for release January 22 on Barsuk Records. The album marks the band's first outing as a four piece with members Wes Miles on vocals, Milo Bonacci on guitar, Mathieu Santos on bass and Rebecca Zeller on violin forming the core of the group.

My distant cousin Walter Elias 'Walt' Disney had a knack for turning everything into perfection, or at least practically perfect in every way. He took the mean, cranky nanny from P.L. Travers' book "Mary Poppins" and turned her into a saint. He excised two of the four Banks children, allowing the cutest ones to remain in the story. Travers' nanny couldn't dance on rooftops, didn't have adventures with Bert, didn't win at the horse races and couldn't sing. Travers was Australian; they take pride in being able to endure aggressive crocodiles, harsh deserts and appalling alloparenting. For those of us in the northern hemisphere who prefer our protagonists to be a bit on the spoonful of sugar side, Disney's Mary Poppins is just the ticket.
