Signal Ensemble Theatre presents the world premiere and 2014 - 2015 season opening production of Devil's Day Off at Signal Ensemble Theatre, 1802 W. Berenice Ave., today, October 16 - November 22. The production is directed by Signal Ensemble Member and Co-Artistic Director Ronan Marra and written by Signal Ensemble Member Jon Steinhagen.

Signal Ensemble Theatre presents the world premiere and 2014 - 2015 season opening production of Devil's Day Off at Signal Ensemble Theatre, 1802 W. Berenice Ave., October 16 - November 22. The production is directed by Signal Ensemble Member and Co-Artistic Director Ronan Marra and written by Signal Ensemble Member Jon Steinhagen. Opening night is Saturday, October 18 at 8 p.m. Performances will run Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. (There will be no performance Sunday, Oct. 19). Ticket prices are $23 for single tickets, $15 for industry/students/seniors/groups and $12 for previews. NOTE: There will be a Monday, Nov. 3 industry night performance at 7:30pm. Tickets may be purchased by calling 773.698.7389 or by visiting www.signalensemble.com.

Director Derek Bertelsen today announced that casting has been completed for the PFP Production of Lillian Hellman's classic story of love and lies, The Children's Hour. Britni Tozzi plays Karen Wright, and Whitney Morse is Martha Dobie. PFP Ensemble Members in the cast are Nelson Rodriguez as Dr. Joseph Cardin, Michelle McKenzie-Voigt as Mrs. Lily Mortar, and Joan McGrath as Mrs. Amelia Tilford.

Pride Films and Plays has announced the winner of the 2013 Great Gay Screenplay contest is Boys In Summer by Dennis Shinners. The award was presented Sunday, November 17 at the conclusion of PFP's Gay Film Weekend in the Hoover-Leppen Theatre of Center on Halsted. The weekend included 'enhanced staged readings' of the top five scripts, including The Starfish Scream by Brent Hartinger, The Passion Child by Amir Sade, Buddy Booth by Edward J. Yaeger Jr., and Saguaro by Brandon Yarns. The weekend also included screenings of the short films The Wait by Mary Guzman, Scotty Works OUT by Dan Pal, Coffee Talk: Episodes 3 and 4 by Skyrider Films, and Hypocrites + Strippers by Kim Yaged, all having their Chicago premieres.

Five finalists have been named in Pride Films and Plays' Great Gay Screenplay Contest, an international contest for screenplays with LGBT characters and themes. The finalists include a wide range of subject matter ranging from a love triangle set in France, a mystical teenage romance laced with racial tension, a set of non-actors facing possible Hollywood stardom, a sweet coming-of-age tale, and an older man's revelation of painful secrets.
