12 Choreographers Announced For The A.W.A.R.D Show 2009 9/4-9/19

The Joyce Theater Foundation (New York), in association with the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival, The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago and On the Boards (Seattle), is pleased to announce the 12 choreographers in each of the four cities who will participate in The A.W.A.R.D Show! 2009. The 48 participants were selected from a total of 218 applicants from across the country; one from each city will take home a $10,000 award to use toward the creation of a new dance work.

ONE FLEW OVER THE COCKOO'S NEST Gets NY Revival Opening 5/6

Wide Eyed Productions will present a New York revival of Dale Wasserman's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest at the Richmond-Shepard Theatre. Opening night is set for May 6th. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest premiered on Broadway in 1963. Revivals include an Off-Broadway production in 1971 and the Steppenwolf Theatre Company's 2001 Broadway staging starring Gary Sinise, which received a Tony Award for Best Play Revival.

Huntington Theater Offers $27 Tickets For PIRATES During One Day Sale 4/24

The Huntington Theatre Company will make available $27 tickets for select performances of 'Pirates! (or, Gilbert and Sullivan Plunder'd)' in a special One Day Sale on Friday, April 24. Tickets will be available online, by phone, and in person at either of the two Box Office locations.

PIRATES! Sails Into Boston With The Huntington Theatre Co 5/15-6/14

The masterful work of Gilbert and Sullivan returns to the Huntington Theatre Company stage for the conclusion of its 2008-2009 Season. Pirates! (or, Gilbert and Sullivan Plunder'd) transports the action of The Pirates of Penzance, the classic operetta about a Pirate King and his motley band; a dutiful pirate apprentice and his nurse; a modern Major-General and his virgin wards; and a Sergeant of Police and his skittish force to the Caribbean in a raucous and rowdy update complete with swordfights, sex appeal, and Sullivan's original music. Gordon Greenberg (Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris), Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde, the Musical), and John McDaniel ('The Rosie O'Donnell Show') co-conceived the adaptation.

New Rep Presents PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE 4/22-5/10

New Repertory Theatre, in residence at the Arsenal Center for the Arts, is thrilled to present Picasso at the Lapin Agile a comedy by Steve Martin. Picasso at the Lapin Agile opens for the press on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 and plays through Sunday, May 10, 2009 at the Arsenal Center for the Arts in the Charles Mosesian Theater.

Writers Paretsky, Chercover, Hyzy Participate In MYSTERY3

Chicago mystery writers Sara Paretsky, Sean Chercover and Julie Hyzy will appear at Lifeline Theatre's 26th Anniversary Benefit, called 'Mystery3' (or 'Mystery Cubed'), to sign copies of their books and meet with their fans during a special VIP champagne reception. The evening also includes a live performance of a classic Dorothy L. Sayers short story by the Lifeline ensemble, featuring three fascinating new endings for this Lord Peter Wimsey mystery penned by Paretsky, Chercover and Hyzy, each in their own signature styles. Classic Chicago food will be provided by Lou Malnati's Pizzeria, and dessert by Eli's Cheesecake. The evening will also feature a 'very mysterious' silent auction.

Peter DuBois Directs THE MIRACLE AT NAPLES In Boston 4/3-5/9

Huntington Theatre Company Artistic Director Peter DuBois makes his Boston directorial debut with the world premiere of David Grimm's outrageous comedy, 'The Miracle at Naples.' Tony and Drama Desk Award-winner Dick Latessa ('Hairspray') returns to the Huntington to play Don Bertolino Fortunato, the leader of a troupe of commedia players who are down on their luck. Lucy DeVito, daughter of acclaimed actors/comedians Danny DeVito and Rhea Pearlman, makes her Huntington debut as La Piccola, Don Bertolino's long-suffering daughter and member of the troupe. 'The Miracle at Naples' is for mature audiences.
