Political Satire THIS IS THE WEEK THAT IS Comes to Plays & Players Theatre

American Theatre Wing, founder of the Tony Awards* (Philadelphia, PA) 1812 Productions is pleased to present its annual political comedy, and a Philadelphia favorite, This Is The Week That Is. A staple of the Philadelphia theatre season for the past 13 years, This Is The Week That Is brings to the stage sharp satire and content that changes with the headlines. This Is The Week That Is opens Wednesday, November 28th at 7pm at Plays & Players Theatre, 1714 Delancey Place, in Center City. Preview performances begin Friday, November 23rd. The Wallis Presents Chris Walden Big Band With Program That Pays Tribute To “Rat Pack” Era

Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts,  which brings audiences world-class theater, dance and music performed by many of the most sought-after artists,presents Chris Walden Big Band with a program that pays tribute to the "Rat Pack" era on Saturday, October 27, 2018, 7:30 pm,in the Bram Goldsmith Theater at The Wallis. Walden, a seven-time Grammy-nominated composer/arranger/conductor, has scored more than 40 feature and TV films and written more than 1,500 orchestral and big band arrangements for artists ranging from Aretha Franklin, Paul McCartney and Barbra Streisand to Diana Krall and Rihanna, among many others.

Berkeley Rep presents World Premiere of IMAGINARY COMFORTS

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the world premiere of Imaginary Comforts, or The Story of the Ghost of the Dead Rabbit, written by Daniel Handler and directed by Tony Taccone. The new play begins previews on Thursday, October 5 and the show runs through Sunday, November 19. Individual tickets begin at $30 and can be purchased online at berkeleyrep.org or by phone, 510 647-2949. Press night will be on Thursday, October 12.

MAX ROSE Opens at Sundance Cinemas 9/16

MAX ROSE, featuring the legendary Jerry Lewis in his first starring role in over two decades, is a deeply moving drama about a retired jazz musician whose beloved wife of nearly six decades has just passed away. Though his career wasn't everything he hoped for, Max always felt like a success because his beautiful, elegant Eva was by his side. Then, while going through her effects, he discovers a love note from another man, a shocking revelation that leads him to believe his entire marriage, indeed, his entire life, was built on a lie. Following a period of anger and withdrawal, Max decides to confront the man who "stole" his wife in the hope that what he learns will provide the answers he so desperately needs. A film about reconciling the past, living in the present, and never stopping to plan for the future, MAX ROSE was written and directed by Daniel Noah. Rounding out the cast are Claire Bloom (as Eva), Kevin Pollack, Kerry Bishe, Mort Sahl, Dean Stockwell, Rance Howard, and Lee Weaver.

BWW Interviews: Illustrious DICK CAVETT in Hellman v. McCarthy

Author/actor/TV talk show host Dick Cavett will star at Theatre 40 in the controversial play Hellman v. McCarthy beginning February 6. Cavett is best known for his TV talk shows from the 70s to present time on CBS, ABC, PBS, USA Network and currently on TCM hosting reruns of his classic 70s interviews. He is known for his laid-back conversational style with such celebrities as Groucho Marx, Bette Davis, Katharine Hepburn, Jack Benny and Mel Brooks among many others. He is a three-time Emmy Award winner. He also currently writes a blog published by the New York Times.

Jerry Lewis to Receive ICG's Lifetime Achievement Award

Jerry Lewis, actor, writer, producer, director, humanitarian and all round funny man, will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the ICG Publicists Awards Luncheon to be held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, Beverly Hills onFebruary 28, 2014.

Woody Allen Considering Return to Standup

In a recent interview with the New York Times, comedy legend Woody Allen revealed that after recently watching Mort Sahl perform at the Cafe Carlyle, he was inspired to return to standup. He told NYT: 'Watching him, I had the same feeling now, in 2013, as I had when I saw him in 1950-something. Of, “Hey, I'd like to get back onstage and do standup again.” He inspired me then to be a standup comic, and all these years later, I thought of it again because of him. He makes that phenomenon so enticing.'

Deadline reports that Jerry Lewis will return to the big screen in his first starring role since 1995's Funny Bones. The comedian begins production tomorrow in the indie feature film MAX ROSE. Daniel Noah will make his directorial debut on the project.
