Renowned soprano Renee Fleming completes her Carnegie Hall Perspectives series with two concerts in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, April 26 and May 4. Appearing on Friday, April 26 at 8:00 p.m. with the New York Philharmonic and Music Director Alan Gilbert, Ms. Fleming performs the world premiere of a song cycle The Strand Settings by Swedish composer Anders Hillborg, commissioned by Carnegie Hall and the New York Philharmonic.
In celebration of Koerner Hall's fifth anniversary, Dr. Peter Simon, President of The Royal Conservatory, and Mervon Mehta, Executive Director of Performing Arts, revealed today some of the details of the 2013-14 concert season. Guggenheim Museum will present celebrated Russian pianist Mikhail Rudy in the New York premiere of a multimedia performance of Modest Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition (Kartinki s vystavki, 1874) with animated projections of rarely seen drawings by Vasily Kandinsky on Thursday, September 27, and Friday, September 28, 2012, at 8 pm. Drawn from the archives of the Centre Pompidou, Paris, the watercolor sketches were made for Kandinsky's historic staging of the Mussorgsky piece in Dessau, Germany, in 1928. The Guggenheim performances are followed by a moderated discussion with Rudy about the origin of his project.
