The Youth Academy's camps and productions are designed to foster self-confidence, creative thinking, problem-solving skills, collaboration, trust and discipline through the medium of the performing arts. For more than 40 years, the theatre has provided thousands of children in Central Florida with professional and stimulating performing arts experiences. The majority of camps take place at the theatre's three stage facility in Orlando's Loch Haven Park, which also includes classrooms and rehearsal halls. All camps conclude with a showcase or 'shareformance' on the final day to which family and friends are cordially invited. All camps and productions of the Youth Academy incorporate National Standards for Theatre Education and Florida Sunshine State Standards.

The musical is based on the book 'Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale.' The play has book and lyrics by Mo Willems and features music by Michael Silversher.
