The New York Musical Festival (NYMF) presented the Women of Note concert series, celebrating female, queer and trans artists who are changing the landscape of musical theatre, on Monday, August 1 at The Duke on 42nd Street. Featuring dynamic sounds and incredible performers, this one-night-only concert event showcased even more artists than last year in two back-to-back performances. Broadway's 40 theatres aren't the only places to catch performances from your favorite stars! Well after Broadway orchestras begin their overtures, ensemble members take their dance breaks, and performers belt out their eleven o'clock numbers, the party continues at various cabaret venues throughout New York City. The next installment  of 'LC Originals: Songwriters,' at the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center will offer an evening of new songs inspired by Lincoln Center, created by some of Broadway and Off-Broadway's leading songwriters, and performed by four outstanding actors.  It takes place Monday, May 2 at 7:30 pm.  Admission is free. The event will be live-streamed, free-of-charge, and available for 24-hours at lincolncenter.org/lc-live.

Cutting-Edge Composers is a concert series that strives to create greater exposure for up-and-coming songwriters by providing them with venues, publicity, Broadway performers, and musicians to best showcase their material. Cutting-Edge Composers is directed and produced by Laura Pietropinto, co-produced by Allie Glickman, and features musical direction by Benjamin Rauhala and orchestrations by Rauhala and Julie McBride.

Broadway's Future Songbook Series -- presented by Arts and Artists at St. Paul -- just presented the songs of award-winning lyricist Jill Abramovitz. The workshop of award-winning composer/lyricist/playwright/performer Max Vernon's new musical THE VIEW UPSTAIRS, directed by Scott Ebersold and with choreography by Spencer Liff and music direction by Matt Aument, began rehearsals last week in New York City and will culminate in three industry presentations on March 31st and April 1st. THE VIEW UPSTAIRS is produced by Invisible Wall Productions, and they are proud to announce the cast and creative team.

Broadway by the Year, now in its 16th season at The Town Hall, once again re-invents itself to bring a fresh and exciting new perspective to The Great White Way's classic show tunes. This season, series creator / writer / director / host Scott Siegel will use each of the four BBTY concerts to explore the ever-popular music that was born on Broadway over four formative decades.

The Public Theater presents the new musical SOUTHERN COMFORT that tells the true story of a group of transgender friends living life on their own terms in the back hills of rural Georgia. SOUTHERN COMFORT begins previews tonight, February 23 and will run through Sunday, March 27 in The Public's Anspacher Theater, with an official press opening on Monday, March 7.

he Public Theaterannounced complete casting today for the new musical SOUTHERN COMFORT that tells the true story of a group of transgender friends living life on their own terms in the back hills of rural Georgia.  Directed by Thomas Caruso and based on the film by Kate Davis, SOUTHERN COMFORT features book and lyrics by Dan Collins and music by Julianne Wick Davis, and was conceived for the stage by Robert DuSold and Thomas Caruso. SOUTHERN COMFORT begins previews on Tuesday, February 23 and will run through Sunday, March 27 in The Public's Anspacher Theater, with an official press opening on Monday, March 7. Public Theater Member tickets and single tickets are available now.
