Bill Irwin Performs One Night Only at Joe's Pub

The Public Theater will present Bill Irwin and Doug Skinner in Late Night Foolin' at Joe's Pub on Thursday, November 17 at 11:30 p.m. for one night only. King Lear company members Kelli O'Hara and Michael McKean are expected to take the stage for some brief musical moments, and the evening will also include a roast of Sam Waterston.

If Hamlet is the reward an actor gets for showing great promise in his youth, King Lear is the thank you he receives in the latter years of a distinguished career.  At age 35, Sam Waterston's Hamlet became one of the iconic performances to come out of the New York Shakespeare Festival.  Now, at 71, The Public Theater's gift for his decades of admirable stage work is the opportunity to essay the maddening royal whose rages against a perceived betrayal by the mosT Loving of his three daughters sets in motion the bloody collapse of a monarchy.  Unfortunately, the gift has not been wrapped very attractively.

The 2011 Broadway's Carols for a Cure, Volume 13 is available now in Broadway theaters. Jeffrey Kuhn and Todd Cerveris Lead CAP21 Theatre's SOUTHERN COMFORT

CAP 21 Theatre Company presents SOUTHERN COMFORT, a new musical by Dan Collins (book and lyrics) and Julianne Wick Davis (music), based on Kate Davis' 2001 Sundance award-winning documentary about transgender friends in rural Georgia. Jeffrey Kuhn and Todd Cerveris join previously announced Annette O'Toole and Jeff McCarthy, with official press opening tonight at the CAP21 Black Box Theater (18 West 18th Street) in Manhattan. Thomas Caruso (ZOMBIE, MIMI LE DUCK) directs.
