CityRep Holds Auditions For AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY 6/19-20

Acorn Productions, presenters of the popular 'Naked Shakespeare' series, presents a series of 6 dinner theater performances at the Inn on Peaks Island beginning in July. The performance series, titled 'Midsummer Merriment,' begins at 6 p.m. with a menu of food drawn from the Inn's pub-style menu, re-titled with Shakespearean names.

The Acorn Shakespeare Ensemble, presenters of the 'Naked Shakespeare' series, concludes its 2009/2010 season with a special 'Greatest Hits of the 2009/10 season' version of the popular monthly 'Sonnets and Soliloquies' performances.

FRANKLIN runs May 20th through June 5th, 2010 at the Arclight Theatre on 152 W . 71st Street. FRANKLIN is an Actors' Equity Association approved Showcase. FRANKLIN was shortlisted by the Old Vic's New Voices program as one of the' Top 10 New Voices in Theater' in 2009.

Acorn Productions, presenters of the "Naked Shakespeare" series, announces plans for the first annual Westbrook Shakespeare Festival, to take place May 14 to 23 at Riverbank Park in Westbrook, Maine. The Westbrook Shakespeare Festival will feature 2 different outdoor productions by Naked Shakespeare actors in repertory over 2 weekends. The featured presentation is AS YOU LIKE IT, directed by Michael Howard, which will be presented as a full-length production Friday through Sunday evening at 5:30 p.m. AS YOU LIKE IT is a classic comedy of disguise, in which Rosalind, one of Shakespeare's strongest female characters, dresses as a man when she is exiled to the forest of Arden along with her cousin Celia. Theater-goers are invited to bring a picnic or purchase a fresh taste of the old Southwest from the event's sponsor, the Blue Burrito, who will be doing concessions for the performances. Acorn's production of Shakespeare's classic tragedy ROMEO AND JULIET, directed by Karen Ball, will be shown weekend afternoons at 2 p.m. This heart-breaking tale of teenage love has been substantially abridged to run about 90-minutes and is the final project of the Young Actors Shakespeare Conservatory, a training program for local teen actors that began meeting in the fall of 2009. Admission to all performances at the Westbrook Shakespeare Festival is free, with a $5 suggested donation for ROMEO AND JULIET and $10 for AS YOU LIKE IT.

In October 2009, a composer/lyricist team was asked to select a fortune cookie. They created a musical theatre piece based on the fortune. Two weeks later, they presented their work to another artist.

In this workshop individuals, partners and groups will develop material for performance to be used as a show, cabaret-type performance or audition. We will endeavor to create something funny and beautiful that serves the clown rather than forcing the clown to serve a formula we devise with our big and powerful brains.

W;T will play a three-week limited engagement at the Spoon Theater (38 West 38th Street, 5th Fl.) Performances begin Wednesday, April 7th and continue through Sunday, April 25th. Opening Night is Wednesday, April 7th(8 p.m.).
