When Edgar Allan Poe and HP Lovecraft heard that playwright Eric Sanders was adapting fellow horror writer Algernon Blackwood's supernatural tale, THE WENDIGO for the stage, they just had to come back from beyond the grave to see it. Thanks to the magic and mystery of Friday the 13th, they can!
Following the 8pm performance of THE WENDIGO on Friday, February 13, classic horror writers Edgar Allan Poe and HP Lovecraft will be joining playwright Eric Sanders and Director Matthew Hancock for a special after show talkback with the audience. Mr. Poe will also be doing a special reading of his beloved classic 'The Raven' and Mr. Lovecraft will be reading his well-known story 'The Outsider'. Come get your picture taken with two of the all-time finest authors of supernatural fiction!
Four hunters, lost in the Canadian woods, begin losing their minds and battling a gigantic, unseen creature in this adaptation of Algernon Blackwood's classic tale of supernatural horror.
One of Blackwood's best stories is the magnificent THE WENDIGO, written in 1908. On the surface, this is a classic story of man versus nature but on a spiritual level the story forces us to question our position and purpose in the universe, to wonder if perhaps there are some places, as the narrator says, that 'no human foot was meant to trod.'
The Vagabond Theatre Ensemble will be presenting the Cabin Fever Festival throughout the month of February at the Medicine Show Theater (549 West 52nd Street) with their main stage production of THE WENDIGO as the centerpiece. The Cabin Fever Festival was established as an opportunity to create a dialogue among the new voices in our theatrical community. The festival will include a variety of new artistic works from both young emerging artists and seasoned professionals in all artistic fields. Writers, actors, singers and artists in every form have come together in this month long celebration of the arts at a time when theatrical opportunity has become a limited occasion. We are proud to have created a safe environment for new work to thrive.
Lost in the wilderness, four hunters venture deep into a world they were never meant to see...
Vagabond's mainstage production of THE WENDIGO will run February 5-28, Thursday-Saturday at 8pm and Sunday matinees February 8 & 22 at 3pm with special performances Monday, February 9 & Wednesday, February 25 at 8pm.
Tickets are only $10 and are available by calling SmartTix at 212-868-4444 or online at www.SmartTix.com
