Star of 'Keating the Musical' and seasoned cabaret performer, Mike McLeish was today announced as the new Artistic Director of the Melbourne Cabaret Festival.

The Australian cast of the brand new production, Georgy Girl - the Seekers Musical, has been announced today with members of The Seekers in attendance. The much anticipated cast announcement was made at Melbourne's Sidney Myer Music Bowl, the scene of The Seekers' record-breaking concert in 1967 that drew a mammoth crowd of more than 200,000 people!

The multi-award winning Australian musical Miracle City continues to blaze new ground for Australian music theatre, by debuting at number 8 in the Australian iTunes Soundtracks Charts.

The Program Launch for the second half of 2015 shows that the Independent Music Theatre team comprising Luckiest Productions (David Campbell, Lisa Campbell and Richard Carroll), Neglected Musicals (Michelle Guthrie), and Neil Gooding Productions, the driving force behind Hayes Theatre Company, have no intention of slowing down are staying true to their vision to provide a permanent home for small-scale musical theatre and cabaret.

Nick Enright occupies a special place in the history of the Australian musical. He was the most experienced professional Australian lyricist of his generation and arguably the most influential. Currency Press has released The Nick Enright Songbook bringing together fifty of the best songs from ten musicals for which Enright wrote the lyrics, and the music of five gifted composers. Across this work, Enright's characteristic use of Australian imagery and language shine brightly, intertwined with the themes of resilience, lost love and religion that are familiar in his work. Together the songs display the proficiency and craft he brought to the Australian musical theatre.

The Sydney's Theatre community gathered at the 2014 SYDNEY THEATRE AWARDS tonight for the 10th annual celebration of the best of the past year's work as judged by The Sydney Reviewers.

At a star-studded ceremony tonight, the winners of the 2014 Sydney Theatre Awards were announced, with a record 33 Awards presented. Over 340 members of the Sydney theatre community packed the auditorium at Paddington RSL to celebrate the best of Sydney theatre throughout the past calendar year.

Nominations were announced today for the Sydney Theatre Awards for 2014, which will be presented at a gala ceremony on Monday January 19, 2015 at 6pm at the Paddington RSL.

The one act, 90 minute, MIRACLE CITY is a humorous jab at television evangelists whilst exploring humanity's darker side and exposing the truths beneath the bright shiny orchestrated images. It provides an enjoyable evening of laughs, strong singing and some plot twists which ensure that the musical is still relevant and relatable to 2014 audiences as it was in 1996.

Based on the tragic tale of Giacomo Puccini's operatic masterpiece Madame Butterfly, Cho Cho is a bilingual drama set in Shanghai about the heroine's life that combines music and theatre as well as poetry and puppetry. This reimagined performance will spread its wings at Arts Centre Melbourne from 2 to 6 October 2013.

Producer Global Creatures have today released an 8-track preview of the score of KING KONG which features the work of some of the world's best contemporary artists, including 3D from Massive Attack, Sarah McLachlan, Justice, Guy Garvey from Elbow and The Avalanches. Robyn Nevin AM and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Arvo Volmer, will present a stirring tribute to President-elect Barack Obama in New York City on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 8PM at Carnegie Hall - following the inauguration of the 44th President earlier that day. The performance will be a feature of the Australia Plays Broadway concert being presented as part of G?Day USA: Australia Week 2009. Widely regarded as the first lady of the Australian stage, Robyn Nevin will deliver the spoken word component of Aaron Copland?s Lincoln Portrait, to be performed by the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Arvo Volmer. Copland?s emotionally charged composition features extracts from President Abraham Lincoln?s letters and speeches, most notably the Gettysburg Address. One of the most quoted speeches in United States history, the Gettysburg Address was delivered by Lincoln in 1863 at the dedication of the Soldiers? National Cemetery in Gettysburg Pennsylvania. With the Civil War in progress, the two-minute speech invoked the principles of human equality espoused by the Declaration of Independence.
