The Public Theater will begin performances for the acclaimed production WE'RE ONLY ALIVE FOR A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME on Thursday, June 13 with a Joseph Papp Free Preview. Written and performed by David Cale, with music co-written with Matthew Dean Marsh, the musical memoir is directed by Robert Falls, in a co-production with Goodman Theatre. Cale's acclaimed autobiographical solo-show runs 90 minutes and plays through Sunday, July 14, with an official press opening on Thursday, June 27.

Ucross, a prestigious artist residency program and creative laboratory for the arts, today announced the recipients of its Spring 2019 fellowships. 54 visual artists, writers, playwrights, composers and more were selected from nearly 400 applicants to utilize uninterrupted time, studio space, and living accommodations on Ucross's 20,000-acre ranch at the foothills of the Bighorn Mountains.

Composer Trevor Bachman kicks off the U.S. national tour of FARMED: A Live Podcast Album on May 11th at Joe's Pub. Described by the NY Times as 'musically and vocally rich' and noted for his 'soulful vocals', Bachman combines live interview with heart-pounding beats, electric harmonies, and an earth-shaking choir of voices. Sourcing interviews from audiences in cities around the country, FARMED, originally inspired by George Orwell's Animal Farm, bridges distant communities through conversation and song. All concerts are live studio events, and recorded for podcast.

Artistic Director Robert Falls announces Goodman Theatre's new 2018/2019 Season-a 14-play line-up of timely, original and inspired works curated by Falls in collaboration with his artistic associates. The new season, which begins in September and continues through July 2019, includes 10 full productions on the Goodman's stages (856-seat Albert Theatre and 350-seat flexible Owen Theatre) plus three free New Stagesdevelopmental productions, and one TBA production TBA staged as part of the Chicago Latino Theater Alliance's 2018 International Latino Theater Festival. Goodman Theatre announces the casts for its one-time-only staged readings as part of its free 14th annual New Stages Festival, October 5-8. The four staged readings include: How to Catch Creation by Christina Anderson; Eden Prairie, 1971 by Mat Smart; The Untranslatable Secrets of Nikki Corona written and directed by Jos Rivera; We're Only Alive for A Short Amount of Time by David Cale, music by Matthew Dean Marsh. Plus, a sneak peek at an immersive work-in-progress POSTNATION conceived by Mikhael Tara Garver, an exploration of immigrants' roles in the creation of the U.S. Postal Service.
