Musical Theatre West has announced that Andrea McArdle, Broadway's original Annie, will star as Miss Hannigan in its upcoming production of ANNIE at the beautiful 1070-seat Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach. ANNIE previews October 29th and runs October 30th through November 14th. Nicole Parker (WICKED, MAD-TV), Tony-nominated Jonelle Allen (Two Gentlemen of Verona) and the nationally acclaimed young performing group THE KIDS NEXT DOOR headline a fully-staged and costumed song and dance extravanganza, 'Cirque Du St. Nick', to kick off the holiday season in Southern California on November 19 and 20. In-studio and production drawings from the upcoming 'Dorothy of Oz' animated film have been released by Summertime Entertainment! In the film, the title and beloved role of Dorothy Gale will be played by Golden-Globe nominated actress Lea Michele, star of television's hit series GLEE. Brooke Shields, the internationally-acclaimed model and film, television and Broadway star, headlined the Broadway in South Africa (BSA) charity event last night, October 28, in New York City. Shields, a constant supporter of children's causes, joined a host of Broadway and New York City artists in donating their time and talents to support BSA's efforts toward providing children, from South Africa's neediest communities, with necessary life skills through arts education. The event took place at The Box and featured an evening of songs, dance and many surprise, vaudeville-style variety acts, typical of late-night shows produced at the lower east side hotspot.
