Magdalena Announces SHADOWS Ibiza Residency

German DJ and producer Magdalena has announced that she will be bringing her Ibiza residency SHADOWS back to the White Isle for the 2019 season.

CVSM Presents TRI-TALENT MUSICALE

Cumberland Valley School of Music will present a Tri-Talent Musicale (guitar, piano and juggling) on Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 7-9 p.m. at the Inn at Ragged Edge, 1090 Ragged Edge Road, Chambersburg, PA. The evening will feature Stuart Ryerse, piano, guitar and juggling, and pre-show music by husband and wife duo RitmaCordia, Marlin Barnes and Jane Peatling, will perform on marimba and cello.

Daniel J. Watts Brings THE JAM: ONLY CHILD To Los Angeles

Daniel J. Watts, currently starring as Sammy Davis, Jr. opposite Dule Hill in the Geffen Playhouse's record-breaking box office smash Lights Out: Nat King Cole, is bringing his solo show The Jam: Only Child to Los Angeles on Monday, March 11th at The Federal in North Hollywood (5303 Lankershim Boulevard). Doors open at 6:30pm, the show begins at 8:30pm. All advance general admission tickets are $20. BWW Review: Be A Lion: The Third Time's A Charm!

I had the pleasure to see the award-winning stage play 'Be A Lion', written by Rory D. Sheriff, inspired by the Broadway play, 'The Wiz' for the third time. Be A Lion is the fictitious account of what could have possibly happened in the land of Oz, AFTER the Wiz's sudden departure. It's an urbanized depiction of the modern day lives Dorothy, Scarecrow, The Tin Man, and The Lion, who is on a quest to become the next 'RULER' of Oz, with his trusted side-kick Miles, The Mouse, and LaDawn, the lioness.

UNDERHER Release 'Mercy' EP

Fledgling electronic live act UNDERHER have released their third official EP, 'Mercy'. Due for release on their own imprint IAMHER, the package includes two original UNDERHER tracks, 'Mercy' and 'Strung', plus remixes from French production duo The Dualz, Greek Hotworkz label boss Harri Agnel, upcoming Austrian producer dörfler, and New Yorker Allies For Everyone. 

Palm Springs International Film Festival Announces Festival Line-Up

 The 30th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) announced that the festival's opening night will be the screening of All is True directed by Kenneth Branagh on Friday, January 4.  The festival will close with Ladies in Black, directed by Bruce Beresford on Sunday, January 13. The Festival will screen 223 films from 78 countries, including 48 premieres (4 World, 13 North American and 31 U.S.) from January 3-14, 2019.  The line-up includes a focus on cinema from France, India and Mexico, Premieres, Talking Pictures, Book to Screen, Special Presentations, FLOS: Foreign Language Oscar Submissions, Gay!La, Local Spotlight, Modern Masters, True Stories, World Cinema Now, a 30-film retrospective of selections from past festivals (free screenings sponsored by Desert Care Network and National Endowment for the Arts), and more.   

Magdalena Expands Her SHADOWS Events Worldwide For 2019

DJ and producer Magdalena has announced she will be expanding her branded SHADOWS events internationally in 2019. Having began life as a successful day to night series of free parties in Ibiza, SHADOWS will be hitting the road in the New Year, starting in Tulum on the 13th January, followed by two mini tours in Berlin, Zurich and Hamburg in mid February and mid March respectively.

The Music Center Honored Joni Mitchell with Two Sold Out Concerts

Honoring one of the world's most revered artists, The Music Center celebrated Joni Mitchell on November 6 and 7, 2018, with two all-star concerts - JONI 75: A Birthday Celebration Live at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion - and an exclusive gala, co-hosted with Vanity Fair and its editor Radhika Jones, which feted her 75th birthday and raised funds for The Music Center's artistic programming, specifically free and low cost programming for underserved communities. The concerts featured performances by Brandi Carlile; Glen Hansard; Emmylou Harris; Norah Jones; Chaka Khan; Diana Krall; Kris Kristofferson; Los Lobos with La Marisoul, Cesar Castro & Xochi Flores; Graham Nash; Seal; James Taylor; and Rufus Wainwright. The artists lit up the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion stage performing Mitchell's songs, which spanned all stages of her career. Co-musical directors Brain Blade and Jon Cowherd provided the evenings' musical arrangements.

Meet King Henry VIII who, upon learning that the Pope will not grant him a divorce from Catherine of Aragon, decides to break from the Catholic Church. After Henry declares that he will break from the Catholic Church and passes a bill requiring his subjects to agree to Henry's supremacy over all, Thomas resigns his Chancellorship and refuses to take the oath. This brilliant and gripping story of one man's courage and convictions will move all who experience it.

Watts' The Jam: Only Child, an evening of music, dance, spoken word, and storytelling on Monday, December 3rd at Joe's Pub at the Public Theater (425 Lafayette Street).  Doors open at 6pm, the show begins at 7pm. 

Martha Scanlan to Release New Album, 'The River and the Light'

Montana-based Americana/folk singer-songwriter Martha Scanlan is set to release her fourth album, The River and The Light, on October 19, 2018 via Rock Ridge Music.  Full of moments of profound intimacy and belonging, the album hosts some of the finest writing yet from the award-winning Scanlan. Produced by her longtime musical collaborator, Jon Neufeld, and recorded at Type Foundry Studios in Portland, Oregon (where Scanlan recorded her third album), The River and The Light is a journey: there is a sense of aliveness and wonder throughout each song and throughout the album, a sense of anticipation of what awaits around the next bend.  The album will be available for pre-order starting on September 21, 2018, and fans who purchase the album at the pre-order stage can enjoy the first single, “Brother Was Dying,” as an instant-gratification track.
