CINDERELLA National Tour to Launch 10/10 in Rhode Island; First Wave of Dates Announced!

The producers of RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA, the 2013 Tony Award-winning Broadway musical from the creators of South Pacific and The Sound of Music, have announced the show's tour dates for the 2014-2015 season. RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA will launch its national tour at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Providence, RI on October 10, 2014.

Michael Mayer-Helmed Musical BROOKLYNITE & Branden Jacobs-Jenkins' GLORIA; OR AMBITION Set for Vineyard Theatre's 2014-15 Season

Vineyard Theatre will produce the world-premiere of the musical BROOKLYNITE directed by the Tony Award-winning director Michael Mayer as well as a new play by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins (APPROPRIATE) as part of the non-profit theatre company's 2014-15 season, it was confirmed this afternoon by Douglas Aibel, The Vineyard's Artistic Director, and Sarah Stern, Co-Artistic Director.

2014 INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF ARTS & IDEAS to Feature US Premiere of THE EVENTS, TRACES and More, 6/14-28

The International Festival of Arts & Ideas today announced complete details for Festival 2014, taking place from June 14 to 28 in New Haven, Connecticut. The theme for the Festival's 19th annual event is Transformation & Tradition, gathering together artists and thinkers who have drawn from the past in order to imagine the future in ways that are startling, bold, and exciting.

Yale Institute for Music Theatre to Develop AFTERLAND and CLOUDS ARE PILLOWS FOR THE MOON

The YALE INSTITUTE FOR MUSIC THEATRE has selected two original book musicals to be developed in an intensive lab setting in New Haven, June 3-15. Afterland, with music and lyrics by Benjamin Velez and book and lyrics by Kathryn Hathaway, will be directed by Mark Brokaw; and Clouds are Pillows for the Moon, with music by Tidtaya Sinutoke and book and lyrics by Ty Defoe, will be directed by Leigh Silverman. The Institute culminates with open rehearsal readings of each project, presented as a part of the International Festival of Arts & Ideas, on June 14 and 15.

Carly Rae Jepsen and Fran Drescher Extend Run in CINDERELLA Through 6/8

The two newest stars of the Tony Award-winning musical CINDERELLA on Broadway - Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum recording artist Carly Rae Jepsen and the Emmy-nominated Fran Drescher - will extend their engagements in the hit musical several more weeks through June 8, it has been announced by producers Robyn Goodman, Jill Furman and Stephen Kocis. The two stars - both of whom have made their Broadway debuts as Cinderella and her wicked stepmother, respectively - were originally scheduled to conclude their runs in CINDERELLA next month.

BULLETS OVER BROADWAY Begins Previews at St. James Theatre Tonight; Meet the Cast!

The world premiere production of the brand new musical comedy Bullets Over Broadway, written by Woody Allen and based on the screenplay by Allen and Douglas McGrath for the 1994 film, will begin preview performances tomorrow, March 11 and officially open Thursday, April 10, 2014 at The St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street). The new musical will be directed and choreographed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman. PLAYING ON AIR to Receive 2014 Daryl Roth Creative Spirit Award

It was announced today that this year's Daryl Roth Creative Spirit Award will be presented to Playing on Air, which produces short plays by prominent, contemporary American playwrights for a national audience via public radio and the Internet. Dedicated to nurturing and supporting theatre artists, The Daryl Roth Creative Spirit Award, named for the multi-Award-winning producer, is a financial grant given annually to a theatre artist or organization who has demonstrated exceptional promise in their field.

Pam MacKinnon, Sarah Ruhl, Mark Brokaw & More Set for Conversation Series Following AND BABY MAKES SEVEN

New Ohio Theatre Artistic Director Robert Lyons, in association with Purpleman Theater, has announced Baby Talk, a weekly conversation series which follows all Wednesday night performances of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel's And Baby Makes Seven. Produced by Gwynn MacDonald, Loren Noveck and Purpleman Theater, Baby Talk will feature playwrights, performers, thinkers and activists who will discuss some of the issues touched on in And Baby Makes Seven, as well as Vogel's career as a playwright and her influence as a teacher and mentor. Participants include Tony award-winner Pam MacKinnon, Sarah Ruhl, Mark Brokaw and more. Complete details can be found below.

Mulit-platinum recording artist Carly Rae Jepsen and beloved film and television star Fran Drescher made their Broadway debuts in Rodgers and Hammerstein's CINDERELLA on February 4. Jepsen stepped in as the title character and Drescher as her wicked stepmother, Madame. Beginning its second year on Broadway, CINDERELLA plays the Broadway Theater (1681 Broadway at 53rd Street).
