CINDERELLA Cast Album in the Works; Recording Begins 3/18!

The company of RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA will enter the studio on March 18 to preserve the Original Broadway Cast Recording for Ghostlight Records. The Broadway premiere of the beloved romantic musical - currently running at the Broadway Theater - has been hailed as "Resplendent with a radiant score" by the Wall Street Journal, "Pure Magic" by the Associated Press and "A full-on romantic fantasy" by the New York Post. RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA has music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, a new book by Douglas Carter Beane and original book by Oscar Hammerstein II. The musical is directed by Mark Brokaw. Josh Rhodes is choreographer. Music adaptation, supervision and arrangements are by David Chase. Andy Einhorn is music director and conductor.

WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF? Concludes Limited Run Today

The critically-acclaimed 50th anniversary Broadway revival of Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? will play its final performance today, March 3rd at 3:00 PM. The production, which began performances on Thursday, September 27, 2012 and officially opened on Saturday, October 13, 2012, at the Booth Theatre (222 West 45th Street) will have played 159 performances.

Earlier today, Cinderella stars Ann Harada and Marla Mindelle unveiled the Cindrella Sundae at Serendipity3 (225 East 60th St). The treat is a life-sized 'glass slipper' made of glittering white chocolate filled with 3 wickedly big scoops of ice cream covered in chocolate and caramel sauce for dreamers and ice creamers of all ages. It's topped off with a delightfully romantic cloud of whipped cream and beautifully colored rock candy that is the finest in all of the kingdom, candy pearls and a life-sized tiara and a Cinderella Mirror Compact complete the royal treatment for the sundae based on the musical that's impossible to resist. THE HEIRESS to Recoup During Final Week of Performances

The producers of the new Broadway revival of THE HEIRESS have just announced that the production will recoup its $3 million capitalization during the final week of performances. The final performance is on Saturday, February 9th at 7:00 p.m. (note the new early curtain time) at Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre (219 W. 48th St. NYC). THE HEIRESS will have played 27 previews and 117 regular performances.

CINDERELLA Will Offer Student Rush Beginning Today

Starting Monday, January 28, 2013, student rush tickets to RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA will be available for performances Mondays through Thursdays, throughout the day of the show only at the Broadway Theatre Box Office (1681 Broadway at 53 St.). Students with a valid student ID may purchase one ticket for $32 (includes $2 facilities fee). Student rush tickets are subject to availability, with seating locations at the discretion of the box office.

THE HEIRESS Moves Final Performance to 2/9

The producers of the new Broadway revival of THE HEIRESS have announced that the production will now play its final performance on Saturday, February 9 at 7:00 p.m. (note the new early curtain time). The previously scheduled Sunday, February 10 closing performance has been cancelled to enable Jessica Chastain, who plays the title character, to attend the BAFTA Awards (the British equivalent to the Academy Awards) where she is nominated for Best Actress on Sunday, February 10th in London. Ms. Chastain is nominated for an Academy Award and has already received Golden Globe and Critics Choice Awards for her performance in the film Zero Dark Thirty. THE HEIRESS is currently playing at Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre (219 W. 48th St. NYC).

JEKYLL & HYDE Moves from Richard Rodgers to Marquis Theatre on Broadway; to Run April 5 - June 30

Update: Jessica Chastain to Miss Four Performances of THE HEIRESS to Support ZERO DARK THIRTY

Previously, we reported that THE HEIRESS' Jessica Chastain would be missing performances on Broadway on January 10th, 13th and 27th to support her film Zero Dark Thirty at the Critic's Choice, Golden Globes and SAG Awards. Now, one more date has been added to the list, Tuesday January 8th, when she will be honored by the National Board of Review.

The critically-acclaimed 50th anniversary Broadway revival of Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? will play its 100th performance on Friday January 4th at 7:00 pm. The production, which began performances on Thursday, September 27, 2012 and officially opened on Saturday, October 13, 2012, at the Booth Theatre (222 West 45th Street), is on sale through March 2013.

Tickets for CINDERELLA Available at Broadway Theatre Box Office Starting Monday, 12/17

Tickets to RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA will go on sale Monday, December 17 at 10 a.m. at the Broadway Theatre box office (1681 Broadway at 53rd St.) Now in rehearsals, RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA will begin preview performances on January 25 with an opening night scheduled for March 3. The production will celebrate the box office opening with a live, in-studio performance by the musical's stars Laura Osnes and Santino Fontana on 'Fox and Friends' on Monday, December 17.

Producers of Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, which began performances today, September 27, 2012, at the Booth Theatre (222 West 45th Street), have announced that tonight, November 15, they will bring a group of marriage counselors and therapists in to see the production. Following the performance there will be a short talkback with members of the cast, director Pam MacKinnon and Jean Petrucelli, Ph.D., a well-known clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst. Dr. Petrucelli will discuss the many complex issues the play raises about marriage and relationships and why George and Martha, despite being a couple of the early 60s, still resonate with audiences today.
