Rick Miller, Louise Pitre, & More to Present at 2013 Dora Awards

The Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) is pleased to announce the VIP presenters for the 34th annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards, to be held Monday, June 24 at 7pm at St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts' (StLC) Bluma Appel Theatre and which will also be live-streamed to the TicketPro Doratron in the StLC's Jane Mallett Theatre due to popular demand.

Sting's THE LAST SHIP Musical Coming to Broadway in 2014; Louise Pitre to Lead?

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Sting's new stage musical, THE LAST SHIP, which has been buzzed about for an upcoming Broadway run, just had a staged reading, which was directed by Joe Mantello. Now according to the Star, the reading was led by Louise Pitre, who is hoping to bring the show to Broadway, revealing: 'It was incredible to work with this team.' A source also told Pitre that 'by the end of the second reading, they had all the money they needed for their production in 2014. Amazing!'

Theatre Passe Muraille Announces 2013/14 Season Includes ON THE ROCKS and VITALS

On Monday April 8th, Artistic Director Andy McKim announced Theatre Passe Muraille's 2013/14 season at the company's annual fundraising gala event. The season presents a balanced approach of fresh new voices (Rob Kempson, Rosamund Small, Mitchell Cushman) and established theatrical powerhouses (Louise Pitre, George F. Walker, Linda Griffiths). It also features more than a dash of song and dance.

Dubbed 'the first lady of Canadian theatre,' Louise Pitre is fresh from her starring turn in Mame at the Goodspeed Opera House. Pitre presents La Vie en Rouge, an intimate revue of material from her favorite roles, including selections from Les Miserables and Mame. The show is set for January 7th at 54 Below.

On Saturday November 17th Torontonians came out to support Gilda's Club of Greater Toronto at the eleventh annual It's Always Something variety show and fundraiser. The event was once again hosted by Russell Peters and featured performances by Eric McCormack, Nelly Furtado, Glass Tiger, Louise Pitre and more. All proceeds went to support Gilda's Club, which provides an invaluable support system and resource for people's who's lives have been touched by cancer. Canada has spoken, and Danielle Wade has been given the coveted red ruby slippers and the role of Dorothy in Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber's production of The Wizard of Oz. Wade, 20, won the eight week long reality competition 'Over the Rainbow' Monday night after a nation-wide vote eliminated runners-up AJ Bridel and Stephanie LaRochelle. Danielle will headline the Mirvish presentation of The Wizard of Oz, opening this Christmas at the Ed Mirvish Theatre.

Toronto and to all of Canada in their living rooms. Featuring Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber himself, the show is a nation-wide search to cast Dorothy in the new Mirvish Production of The Wizard of Oz. Joining Lord Lloyd Webber on the search are judges Arlene Philips, Thom Allison and Louise Pitre and host Daryn Jones. BWW was on hand for the first show to bring readers all the excitement as these girls battle it out for a chance to don the ruby slippers and become a star.
