TRTC Presents World Premiere of ORESTES, A TRAGIC ROMP, 3/23-4/11

Following a highly successful run at the Folger Theatre in Washington D.C., Two River Theater Co. is proud to present the world premiere of Orestes A Tragic Romp, Anne Washburn's razor sharp modern adaptation of the Greek tragedy by Euripides, directed by Two River Artistic Director Aaron Posner.

The Next Stage Program Presents THE HAPPY PRINCE, 4/3

The Next Stage Program, Long Wharf Theatre's program for early-career theatre professionals, will present The Happy Prince, a devised adaptation of the beloved children's story by Oscar Wilde, on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Long Wharf Theatre's Mainstage. The Wilma Theater Presents LANGUAGE ROOMS

Writers' Theatre Announces Fourth Extension of OH COWARD! Now Running Thru 5/16

Writers' Theatre Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma announce the second extension of Oh Coward!, words and music by Noel Coward, devised by Roderick Cook. The production, which began its run in November 2009 is directed by Jim Corti, with musical direction by Doug Peck. The production has been extended through April 18, 2010, at Writers' Theatre, 664 Vernon Avenue in Glencoe.

The Lost Studio Presents the American Premiere of Alan Ayckbourn's CONFUSIONS, 1/15-3/7

A matchless quintet of interlinked plays by Britain's best-loved comic playwright, illustrates the hilarious consequences of not listening to one another.  Ayckbourn's overlapping characters are alternately naturalistic and farcical - quirky, neurotic, self-important, and hysterical.  Whether the comedy concerns marital conflict, infidelity, motherhood, or manhood; is set on a park bench or at a village fete, the characters reveal a LOL timeless familiarity in their desperation to make contact with one another. Ayckbourn's American premiere of 'Confusions' will be staged by the Lost Studio from January 15 - March 7, 2010 in Los Angeles.

SCR Announces 13th Annual Pacific Playwrights Festival Lineup, 4/23-4/25

South Coast Repertory's 13th annual Pacific Playwrights Festival (PPF) will shine the spotlight on seven new plays written by America's finest writers, including five who will be familiar to SCR audiences and two who are making their SCR debuts. This year's festival, which takes place April 23-25, will feature fully-produced world premieres by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Julia Cho and staged readings of brand-new works by Amy Freed, Itamar Moses, Bathsheba Doran, Sofia Alvarez and David West Read.

Julia Cho Wins Blackburn Prize for Playwriting

The 2010 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, the most prestigious award given annually to women playwrights, has been awarded to American playwright Julia Cho for her play 'The Language Archive.' Ms. Cho received the honor at a private reception in New York City on Wednesday, March 3. The award of $20,000 and a signed and numbered print by artist Willem de Kooning were presented to Ms. Cho by Tony Award-winning director Doug Hughes, one of the distinguished judges for the 2010 Blackburn Prize.

Tickets for MCC Theater's FAMILY WEEK On Sale Today, 3/3

MCC Theater (Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, Artistic Directors; William Cantler, Associate Artistic Director; Blake West, Executive Director) has announced that tickets will go on-sale today, March 3, 2010, at 12:00 p.m. (noon) for the company's third and final production of their 2009-2010 season: Beth Henley's Family Week, directed by Jonathan Demme. Performances of the four person play begin at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) on April 9 and continue through May 23, 2010. Opening night is set for Monday, April 26 at 7:00 p.m.

ANY GIVEN MONDAY Moves to Act II Playhouse 3/3-28

Philadelphia playwright Bruce Graham, who penned the highly acclaimed new play Any Given Monday, is moonlighting as an actor - joining the cast when Any Given Monday moves to the Act II stage March 3-28. Act II Associate Artistic Director Harriet Power directs this sharp-tongued 'comedy of morals', co-produced with Center City-based Theatre Exile.
