La MaMa to Present THE GOLEM OF HAVANA, 8/28-9/8

La MaMa E.T.C. will present the musical The Golem of Havana, a production of Columbia Stages, Palo de Agua and Theater of the Americas, August 28 through September 8, 2013 at its downtown home (74 East 4th Street, between Bowery and Second Avenue, Subway: F/M to Second Avenue). Michel Hausmann wrote the book and will direct the production, which has music by Salomon Lerner and lyrics by Len Schiff.

Set in early 90's Ukraine, the play serves up hearty helpings of vodka, Russian roulette, and even an appearance by Baba Yaga.

Columbia University School of the Arts has announced the 2012-2013 Columbia Stages season of actors', directors' and playwrights' thesis productions at the Riverside Theatre, 3LD, the Connelly Theatre, and The Pershing Square Signature Center. Columbia Stages has expanded its season to a variety of venues throughout the City in order to provide third-year students with high-quality presentation spaces that meet the needs of their individual vision. The first production of the season will be Antigone/Progeny directed by Greg Taubman '13.

Black Milk, by the Russian playwright Vassily Sigarev (translation by Sasha Dugdale), will have its New York premiere Off-Broadway this summer from tonight, July 19 - August 4, 2012 in a production helmed by the acclaimed Venezuelan director Michel Hausmann at East 13th Street Theatre, 136 East 13th Street (home of Classic Stage Company).
