Rafael Payare's highly anticipated inaugural concerts as San Diego Symphony's Music Director Designate take place as part of the annual January Festival. It will mark his only Jacobs Masterworks appearance this season and will feature acclaimed cellist Alisa Weilerstein and the orchestra's first-ever performance of Benjamin Britten's Symphony for Cello and Orchestra. He will also perform in a special Discovery Night concert on January 10, with all funds from this concert going to support the San Diego Symphony's Learning and Community Engagement programs.

Cinetic Media and Papercut Films in association with Diamond Docs announced last night, following the film's premiere, that the new artificial intelligence documentary DO YOU TRUST THIS COMPUTER? will be available to stream for free from Thursday midnightthrough Saturday midnight from the film's website, courtesy of entrepreneur Elon Musk.  This will be concurrent with the film's Los Angeles theatrical engagement at the Laemmle Monica.  The film will be available to rent and purchase on the website thereafter.

Lyric Opera of Kansas City concludes its 2017- 2018 season with Rossini's comedic jewel, The Barber of Seville, April 28; May 2, 4, and 6 at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. Operadagen Rotterdam, the festival for contemporary opera and music theatre, will be held from 18 through 27 May 2018. The Sarasota Concert Association's free Music Matinees series continues its 2017-2018 season with State College of Florida Chamber Choir, conducted by Melodie Dickerson, Wednesday, March 28, noon, in the Grand Foyer at the Van Wezel Performing Art Hall in Sarasota. The ensemble is known for performing Renaissance madrigals, cutting-edge choral works, contemporary jazz tunes and traditional choral literature. General Director and CEO Deborah Sandler today announced the final performance in 2017-2018 Lyric Opera's ExplorationsSeries. The company will close the second season of this new and innovative series with American Voices on Saturday, March 24 with a 7:30 p.m. performance in the Michael and Ginger Frost Production Arts Building. Continuing the theme of featuring eclectic performances in intimate spaces, this recital will feature Lyric Opera's Resident Artists performing art songs by prominent American composers, past and present.

Actress Alison Janes will reprise her role as Marilyn Monroe in the critically acclaimed play "Marilyn, Madness and Me" when it opens at 7 p.m. Friday for a two-night run on March 9 and 10 at Indian Wells Theatre.
