San Diego Symphony Announces 2018-2019 Season Featuring First Concerts Conducted by Rafael Payare as Music Director

Rafael Payare's highly anticipated inaugural concerts as San Diego Symphony's Music Director Designate take place as part of the annual January Festival. It will mark his only Jacobs Masterworks appearance this season and will feature acclaimed cellist Alisa Weilerstein and the orchestra's first-ever performance of Benjamin Britten's Symphony for Cello and Orchestra. He will also perform in a special Discovery Night concert on January 10, with all funds from this concert going to support the San Diego Symphony's Learning and Community Engagement programs.

Cinetic Media and Papercut Films in association with Diamond Docs announced last night, following the film's premiere, that the new artificial intelligence documentary DO YOU TRUST THIS COMPUTER? will be available to stream for free from Thursday midnightthrough Saturday midnight from the film's website, courtesy of entrepreneur Elon Musk. This will be concurrent with the film's Los Angeles theatrical engagement at the Laemmle Monica. The film will be available to rent and purchase on the website thereafter.

Operadagen Rotterdam, the festival for contemporary opera and music theatre, will be held from 18 through 27 May 2018. The programme was launched today as online ticket sales commence. 100+ performances can be enjoyed in Rotterdam's major theatres as well as at exciting inside and outside locations across the city. This year's festival theme is Heroism, with narratives revolving around the challenges and trials inherent to every hero's journey. Operadagen Rotterdam is an important meeting place for opera and music theatre professionals from around the world. The Sarasota Concert Association's free Music Matinees series continues its 2017-2018 season with State College of Florida Chamber Choir, conducted by Melodie Dickerson, Wednesday, March 28, noon, in the Grand Foyer at the Van Wezel Performing Art Hall in Sarasota. The ensemble is known for performing Renaissance madrigals, cutting-edge choral works, contemporary jazz tunes and traditional choral literature.
