This is Just to Say: Live Art II, produced and directed by composer Inhyun Kim, features works by Ms. Kim, as well as composers Judith Ring, Nomi Epstein, and Sonia Megias, and performances by soprano Megan Schubert and pianist David Kalhous. This interdisciplinary concert, which also features work by Naho Taruishi, video artist and dancers/choreographers Coco Karol and Luke Gutgsell, takes place at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia theater at Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway, New York City tonight, June 16th, 2012 at 7:30 pm. American Lyric Theatre to Receive $20,000 NEA Art Works Grant

American Lyric Theater has been selected by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to receive a $20,000 grant to support its Composer Librettist Development Program (CLDP), a full-time resident artist program for emerging opera composers and librettists. Artists are selected through an open application process to participate in the tuition-free program that provides professional training by renowned and respected artists including composer-librettist Mark Adamo, composer Anthony Davis, librettist Michael Korie, and dramaturg Cori Ellison.

Science Channel Acquires Off-Network Syndication Rights for FRINGE

SCIENCE today announced that the network has acquired the off-network syndication rights to FRINGE, the acclaimed dramatic series from creators J.J. Abrams (Lost, the Star Trek and Mission: Impossible movies), Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek, Transformers) and Roberto Orci (Star Trek, Transformers), and executive producers Jeff Pinkner (Alias, Lost), J.H. Wyman (The Mexican, Keen Eddie) and Bryan Burk (Lost, Alias, Star Trek, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol). The agreement with Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution grants the network the rights to the four existing seasons of the series as well as the upcoming fifth season which debuts on FOX this fall (Fridays 9/8c), as well as behind-the-scenes features and unseen bonus footage. FRINGE will begin airing on SCIENCE in the fourth quarter of 2012.

Symphony Space's Gertrude Stein's Paris, a month-long, multi-disciplinary festival devoted to the vibrant cultural milieu of Gertrude Stein's Paris, continues tonight, April 27 with two fully staged productions devoted to the inspiration Stein's work had on vocal and operatic repertoire. Encompass New Opera Theatre will present two one-act operas based on texts by Stein, Virgil Thomson's Capital Capitals and Ned Rorem's Three Sisters Who Are Not Sisters. Directed by Nancy Rhodes, this salute to Stein's work through American opera is a fresh examination of the influence Stein has had throughout the arts.
