Manhattan Concert Productions has just revealed the full and phenomenal cast who will take part in their concert performance of Ragtime at Avery Fisher Hall on Monday, February 18, 2013!

Tony Winner, Disney Legend Lea Salonga ('Miss Saigon,' 'Les Miserables') opened this year's Lincoln Center presents 'American Songbook' concert series, a 15-year-old annual tribute to great American songwriters, past and present, to sold-out crowd at The Allen Room, Jazz at Lincoln Center last night.

The Special Edition of 'Scott Alan Live,' which was recorded April 30th at Birdland, is now available both physically and digitially via iTunes, Amazon and CDbaby.

On Monday, January 28th at 9pm, Jay Kuo played to a sold out audience at The Lambs Club in An Evening with Jay Kuo, the premiere event in EMERGING, a new Broadway composer cabaret series presented by Darrel Alejandro Holnes.

Now in its 15th season, Lincoln Center's acclaimed series American Songbook will celebrate the best in American singing and songwriting starting January 30, 2013. Opening night belongs to Lea Salonga, who captivated Broadway audiences with her debut in Miss Saigon many years ago and has since become the voice of Disney movie princesses as well as starring in other major musicals. Salonga has played both Eponine and Fantine on stage in Les Miserables, and in the video below she takes on yet another role. Check out her rendition of 'Empty Chairs at Empty Tables' below!

The World Premiere of the Broadway-bound Allegiance - A New American Musical ended its extended run at San Diego's Old Globe on October 28, 2012. The musical starred television and film icon George Takei, Tony Award-winning actress Lea Salonga and Broadway favorite Telly Leung. As a kid growing up in the Philippines, I remember being completely enamored by the incredibly talented Lea Salonga, one of my native country's premier superstars. Much to my delight, this Tony Award-winning international star agreed to answer a series of silly, rapid-fire questions from me before her cabaret concert appearance on January 19 at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa.

Manhattan Concert Productions has just announced the following cast members for the upcoming concert performance of Ragtime at Avery Fisher Hall on Monday, February 18, 2013 including Michael Arden as Younger Brother, Philip Boykin as Booker T. Washington, Manoel Felciano as Tateh, Michael McCormick as J.P. Morgan, Howard McGillin as Father and NaTasha Yvette Williams as Sarah's Friend.

Executive Producer Mike Isaacson announced today the directors, choreographers and music directors for its 2013 Season, which opens on June 17 with Monty Python's Spamalot. 'This is a phenomenally talented group of artists, and I'm thrilled to be working with all of them. Last season our audience inspired us to take many risks and push ourselves far. These directors and choreographers are already working on ways to top last season's level of excitement and excellence.'

Atlantis Productions has announced via Facebook that it will stage Disney's Mary Poppins in the Philippines in 2014. According to ABS-CBN News, among the actresses being considered for the title role are Pinky Marquez, Joanna Ampil and Lea Salonga.

London-based stage actress Joanna Ampil seems to have all the luck having "Miss Saigon" (Kim), "Jesus Christ Superstar" (Mary Magdalene), "Les Miserables" (Fantine), and "Avenue Q" (Christmas Eve), among others under her belt. However, luck does not have anything to do with her success in musical theater because this hard-working thespian believes that her continuous drive to learn more, and her quest to be the best that she can be are responsible for every good thing that comes her way.

As expected (thankfully) 2012 provided Southern California audiences--specifically here in Orange County and nearby Los Angeles and San Diego--a season full of outstanding, remarkable theater offerings from touring companies, impressive regional productions, and even some tiny black box theaters. And, of course, as is the common practice during the ushering of a new year, the enjoyable past-time of putting together a year-end 'best of' list is something contributor Michael Lawrence Quintos truly looks forward to doing, especially when there's a plethora of great work to choose from--many of which he had the pleasure of reviewing exclusively for BroadwayWorld.
