Olivier Award-winning theatre company Mischief Theatre are bringing their comedy masterpiece The Play That Goes Wrong to Australia for the first time from February next year.

The international theatre and arts community has been paying tribute to one of the greatest ever theatre directors, who worked extensively in the West End, at The Old Vic, National Theatre, Almeida, and on Broadway.

No Time for Comedy is unlike anything you have ever seen, I feel sure. It is funny and clever - much of the dialogue is of Jane Austen caliber - but it joyfully refuses to go any of the places you think it probably might. It is political, and pointed, but never preachy, except to call attention to the motives of those who would preach. It is at once a parody of a witty Broadway comedy of the nineteen-twenties, -thirties, and -forties, and the apotheosis of it; and a part of it also contains a convincing and fairly furious repudiation of itself. For this 1939 play seems well aware that its very style is about to be subsumed by world conflict…

Berkeley Rep today announced the American premiere of 946: The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips adapted by Michael Morpurgo (War Horse) and Emma Rice, with Rice also directing.

Mischief Theatre today announce that their critically acclaimed smash (and grab) hit play The Comedy About A Bank Robbery has extended for a further 6 months, and is now booking until 29 October 2017, completing a year and a half in the West End. 

The Bodyguard - The Musical (World Premiere Cast Recording) will be released on November 18, 2016 from First Night Records/R.E.D., and features the outstanding vocals of Alexandra Burke, a previous star of the London cast production and winner of the fifth season of the British television series 'The X-Factor.'

According to BBC News, Olivier Award-winning director Howard Davies passed away yesterday. He was 71 years old.

Bill Kenwright presents the much loved musical LA CAGE AUX FOLLES with JOHN PARTRIDGE as 'Albin' and ADRIAN ZMED as 'Georges', opening at New Oxford Theatre on Thursday 5th January before embarking on its first ever nationwide tour.

Disney Theatrical Productions and the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) announced today that tickets for the long-awaited return engagement of Disney's THE LION KING will go on sale to the public on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 10A. Providence's most eagerly awaited return will once again leap onto the PPAC stage for a limited engagement of 3 weeks from Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 7P through Sunday, March 19, 2017 at 1P. The opening night is on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 7:30P.

I walked into The Writer's Center last Saturday cold and unfamiliar with the works of THE NIGHT ALIVE playwright Conor McPherson or Quotidian Theatre Company. Walking out, I was a happier person.

According to Deadline, Benedict Cumberbatch is set to host NBC's SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE on November 5th. Solange Knowles will be the musical guest.

The hugely popular re-imagining of Charles Dickens' festive staple A Christmas Carol, starring Simon Callow and directed by Tom Cairns, will return to the Arts Theatre in London for a strictly limited season from 8 December to 7 January.

National Theatre Group (NTG) announced today that Angela Rowles will join the company as the theater's new managing director beginning October 31, 2016.

Producer Stuart Thompson announced today that John Guare's critically acclaimed play Six Degrees of Separation will return to Broadway this spring in a revival starring seven-time Emmy Award winner Allison Janney ('Mom,' The Girl on the Train) as Ouisa and Tony Award winner John Benjamin Hickey (The Normal Heart, 'Manhattan') as Flan. Trip Cullman (Significant Other, Punk Rock) will direct the production, which is set to open at the Barrymore Theatre in April 2017 and will run for 15 weeks only.

The McKittrick Hotel, home of the immersive theater spectacle Sleep No More, will present the New York premiere of The National Theatre of Scotland's The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart, a transporting, music-filled folk theater fable, created by writer David Greig and director Wils Wilson, with design by Georgia McGuinness, movement by Janice Parker and musical direction by Alasdair Macrae.
