Today, property company Bruntwood together with the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester have announced that the 2017 Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting has inspired 1,898 writers to submit their plays to Europe's largest prize for playwriting - which closed for entries on Monday 5 June.
Wish List by Katherine Soper, who currently works in a perfumery on Regent Street in London, was today announced as the winner of the 10th anniversary Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting 2015 - Europe's biggest playwriting prize. She wins a prize of £16,000, and a residency at the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester, where today's award ceremony took place and the process towards production begins.
Tonight at SBW Stables, Griffin Theatre Company awarded Brisbane playwright Stephen Carleton the 2015 Griffin Award for his new work The Turquoise Elephant.
Griffin is excited to announce the five finalists shortlisted for the 2015 Griffin Award for Best New Australian Play, now in its eighteenth year: Christopher Bryant (Melbourne /Sydney); Stephen Carleton (Brisbane); Kendall Feaver (Sydney); Julian Larnach (Sydney); and Louris van de Geer (Melbourne).
