DRG Records just kicked off the release of Gerard Alessandrini's Forbidden Broadway: Comes Out Swinging! (2014 Un-Original Cast Album), produced by Grammy Award winner Hugh Fordin, yesterday at Barnes & Noble (150 East 86 Street). The cast along with writer/creator and director Gerard Alessandrini and longtime Forbidden Broadway illustrator and CD cover artist Ken Fallin, were on hand to sign the CD and for performances. In May 2014, FORBIDDEN BROADWAY: COMES OUT SWINGING opened to rave reviews at the Davenport Street Theatre. Audiences laughed until their sides ached at the latest incarnation through its sparkling closing performance on Sunday, June 20, 2014. (2014 Un-Original Cast Album), produced by Grammy Award winner Hugh Fordin, on Tuesday, July 22nd at Barnes & Noble (150 East 86 Street). There will be an in-store appearance and performance at 5pm.
Extensive window displays as well as a storewide presentation of Broadway memorabilia run through June 30th at thePaul Stuart flagship located at Madison Avenue at 45th Street. The exhibit features photography by Martha Swope(the celebrated chronicler of Broadway and only photographer to ever be presented a Tony Award), illustrations byKen Fallin (whose great caricatures of Broadway theatre regularly grace the pages of The Wall Street Journal), and both design sketches and a carefully curated selection of the costumes designed by 5 time Tony winner (and Chairman of the American Theatre Wing) William Ivey Long. An in-store reception was hosted by Paul Stuart and The Wall Street Journal with special guest hosts two-time Grammy Award winner and a two-time Tony Award winner and 2006 American Theater Hall of Fame inductee, Patti Lupone and director and Tony Award-winning lyricist (for Hairspray) Scott Wittman. Entertainment throughout the evening was provided by the legendary Broadway orchestrator (and one of 12 people to have won all four major show business awards referred to as EGOT: Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony) Jonathan Tunick and his 'Broadway Moonlighters'.

Richard Ridge, lead correspondent for BroadwayWorld, hosted the 45th Anniversary Gala for Amas Musical Theatre, New York City's award-winning pioneer in diversity and multi-ethnic casting in the performing arts since 1968, on Monday, March 31st, 2014 at the Baruch Performing Arts Center (East 25th Street between Lexington and 3rd Avenues). Urban Stages Founding Artistic Director Frances Hill and producer Peter Napolitano present the World Premiere of Character Man as part of its 30th Anniversary season. Jim Brochu's new musical memoir just opened Off-Broadway at Urban Stages Theatre (259 West 30th Street) Wednesday March 5th. This limited run, in previews now, will continue through March 30th only. Robert Bartley directs, with musical direction by Carl Haan. Character Man will have scenic & video design by Patrick Brennan, lighting design by Meghan Santelli and sound design by Sean Hagerty. Also this year, DO40 is honoring Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Executive Director Tom Viola for his ongoing support of DO40 and our mission. This year's host is Christine Pedi (Chicago, Forbidden Broadway).
