It has been announced that the Donald Trump puppet will leave the campaign trail for the day to attend this once-in-a-lifetime event. (And it's been rumored that the mysterious second DONALD TRUMP PUPPET will attend, as well.)

As BroadwayWorld reported yesterday, Allegiance will play its final performance on Broadway on Sunday, February 14, 2016. Performances began at the Longacre Theatre on October 6, 2015 and the production officially opened on November 8, 2015. At the time of its closing it will have played 37 previews and 113 regular performances. In light of the announcement, we're taking a trip down memory lane to the show's road to Broadway!

AVENUE Q will soon hit another milestone! With this Sunday's (November 15th 7:30pm) performance of the Tony Award-winning musical of AVENUE Q in NYC, the beloved, critically-acclaimed show will make history -- again! -- when it plays its 2,534th performance at New World Stages (340 W. 50 St.), matching the number of performances AVENUE Q ran at the Golden Theatre, where the musical played for 6.5 years before transferring to New World Stages.

On December 6th, most of the original cast of the Broadway musical Lysistrata Jones will reunite in concert at 54 Below. Set to reprise their Broadway roles are Ato Blankson-Wood, Katie Boren, Lindsay Nicole Chambers, LaVon Fisher-Wilson, Patti Murin, Kat Nejat, Josh Segarra, Libby Servais, LaQuet Sharnell, Charlie Sutton, Jason Tam, Teddy Toye, and Jared Zirilli.

If ever a show has become part of the 'fabric' of New York and pop culture, it's the Tony Award-winning musical Avenue Q, with its colorful -- in costume and in language -- cast of humans and puppets. The ground-breaking musical hits a new landmark today, July 31, when it celebrates its 12th anniversary at New World Stages (340 W. 50 St.), where AVENUE Q has performed for the past six years, following its triumphant six-year run on Broadway. Below, BroadwayWorld takes you back through some of the show's best moments over the years!

This week's spotlight is on composer/lyricist Drew Fornarola and bookwriter Scott Elmgreen. TIANANMEN is an original rock musical that follows the events of the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests in Beijing, focusing on the stories of three student demonstrators and the Communist leaders they dare to challenge. The students communicate through music while government leaders communicate through spoken dialogue, and in this way the show uses musical theatre to starkly and viscerally portray the generational and cultural divides that come between both sides. Selections from Tiananmen premiered in a March 2014 concert at 54 Below starring Telly Leung, Ruthie Ann Miles, and Karl Josef Co, and the show continues to be developed under the artistic guidance of director Stafford Arima and with academic support from the Harvard University Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations. Allegiance - A New American Musical has been eyeing a Broadway run since it premiered at San Diego's Old Globe last fall. Since then, a New York City reading was held, led by Lea Salonga, George Takei and Telly Leung, all of whom starred in the San Diego production; there was also a recent backers screening in Austin. Over 80 writers, directors, actors and musicians will present 10 unique musical shorts at SOUND BITES: a one-night-only off-Broadway event. Behind the Bites introduces the creators of the musicals featured at SOUND BITES with sneak peeks from the rehearsal process.

California Musical Theatre released casting for the remaining shows in the 64th Music Circus season, a roster of actors including Broadway veterans, Tony nominees and audience favorites from previous Music Circus seasons, as well as actors with Sacramento-area ties. The five-show season at the Wells Fargo Pavilion includes the Music Circus premiere of the beloved Disney classic Mary Poppins, which runs through July 13, as well as other Tony Award-winning shows including Rodgers and Hammerstein's lush South Pacific, Lerner and Loewe's mystical Brigadoon, Jerry Herman and Harvey Fierstein's hilarious La Cage aux Folles, and the singular sensation A Chorus Line, which ended its week-long run on June 29. Music Circus casting for the season is determined after auditions are held in New York City, Los Angeles and Sacramento.

The nine-time Tony Award®-winning singular sensation A Chorus Line, conceived byMichael Bennett and featuring music by Marvin Hamlisch, kicks off the 2014 Music Circus season at the Wells Fargo Pavilion, the 64th season for the venerable Sacramento institution.
