Growing up Jewish in New York with all its religious restrictions and where communication consisted of 'either no talking or... screaming'... then on top of that to be a girl and exceedingly tall...ouch! You are most definitely out of place, but by no means out of touch, even though the temptation for her may have been to run and hide. Judy's escape? She planted herself in front of the TV, watched sitcoms...and learned. And in the 70s, with All in the Family, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Brady Bunch, The Partidge Family, Welcome Back, Kotter, to name but a few, what a fun education it was! Now at the Geffen Playhouse, Judy Gold plays out her award-winning The Judy Show extended through August 18, appropriately subtitled My life as a sitcom.

Uptown Players, a professional theater group located in the Uptown area of Dallas, has announced its programming for the 3rd annual Dallas Pride Performing Arts Festival. From September 5 - 14, 2013, Uptown Players will present a nine-day festival of plays, staged readings and cabaret acts celebrating Dallas Gay Pride.

Ars Nova announces the lineup for its 6th Annual ANT Fest. In 1994, Bette Midler returned to New York after nearly 20 years in Los Angeles, and started the New York Restoration Project, a non-profit organization devoted to bringing abandoned and neglected parks, gardens, and open spaces in all five boroughs back to life. NYRP includes the beautiful New Leaf Cafe in Fort Tryon Park as part of its success, and is committed to helping restore parks and gardens devastated by Hurricane Sandy. It's going to be an outrageous summer at truTV this year, with three brand new series and the return of several popular favorites. The lineup includes the two series launches: Kentucky Bidders, a look at a family-run auction house in small-town Kentucky premiering July 8, and Cash Dome Pawn, a Miami-based series that will mark the latest entry in truTV's pawnshop series franchise when it premieres Aug. 13. Meanwhile, the hilarious new series Top 20 Funniest is in the midst of its first season on Thursday nights. NETworks Presentations LLC's Founder and CEO Kenneth Gentry has just announced the addition of Orin Wolf to its executive staff. Effective July 1, 2013, Orin will join the company as President, with co-founder Scott W. Jackson serving as Chief Operating Officer and co-founder Seth Wenig as Executive Vice President - Production. Gentry will continue as Chief Executive Officer.

NickMom has ordered second seasons of the stand-up comedy series NickMom Night Out (23 episodes) and talk show Parental Discretion with Stefanie Wilder-Taylor (20 episodes), it was announced today by Bronwen O'Keefe, Senior Vice President, NickMom.

The Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) in collaboration with Producer Eva Price and the Broadway revival of the Tony Award winning musical Annie announced a new collaboration to raise awareness and funds for arts education programs for underserved students throughout New York City.

Since launching the series two years ago in Provincetown, Broadway @ The Art House's success has most recently spawned runs in New Orleans, Sydney, Melbourne, this June in London and this coming fall/winter in Santa Monica.

New York Live Arts is set to present several Re: Awakenings performances as part of the inaugural Live Ideas festival. New York Live Arts' newest program initiative, Live Ideas is an annual humanities festival that will explore a different theme each year over several days.
