Scottish actor Michael Nardone (BBC One's The Night Manager and Rellik, HBO's Rome) will play the title role in National Theatre Director Rufus Norris' touring production of MACBETH, with Kirsty Besterman (Genesis Inc. at Hampstead Theatre, They Drink It in The Congo at the Almeida Theatre, and BBC One's Father Brown) joining the cast as Lady Macbeth.

OCTA Announces New Works Playwright Competition Finalists

The time has come for Olathe Civic Theatre Association to prepare for its second New Works Playwright Competition Finals! After receiving nearly double the number of entries from last year, the members of the NWPC committee have narrowed the pool to five finalists. Applicants submitted a ten-page teaser vetted by the committee and then ten semi-finalists were asked to send in full scripts. Now, OCTA will present the five teasers, from four original plays and one original musical, at this year's New Works Playwright Competition Finals in early March.

A unique opportunity for local playwrights in the Kansas City Area (Jackson, Clay, Platte, or Cass counties) and Kansas, the competition-style event was a hit with both patrons and participants last season. The public aspect of the competition is comprised of two events: the finalist performances in March and the Winner Workshop performances in July.

Twenty-three performers who have performed with organisations and venues including the National Theatre and Royal Court in London, the English National Opera, National Theatre of Scotland, Citizens Theatre and Edinburgh's Royal Lyceum Theatre and Traverse Theatre will be taking to the stage to perform the supporting role during the month-long Festival Fringe run of Scribble, winner of the Assembly Roxy Theatre award, opposite Alan MacKenzie in the lead role of Ross.
