Today, Seth Deconstructs EVE WAS WEAK from CARRIE. Seth writes ' - Score by Michael Gore and Dean Pitchford. Linzi Hateley is Carrie, Betty Buckley is Margaret. BRAVA!!!!!!!!'
On April 26, 2010, Newsweek printed an article entitled ‘Straight Jacket' in which openly gay contributor Ramin Setoodeh criticizes LGBT actors. GLEE Creator Ryan Murphy and actors including Kristin Chenoweth, Cheyenne Jackson and Michael Urie have spoken out against the article.
Forty seasons ago, Westport Country Playhouse staged 'Butterflies Are Free' with Blythe Danner as the ingenious girl who falls in love with a blind boy, played by Keir Dullea.
Here's a sneak look at next week's episode of GLEE, 'Dream On', which airs Tuesday night, May 18th! In an episode directed by Emmy Award winner Joss Whedon, Mr. Schuester's former high school nemesis (Neil Patrick Harris) causes trouble for the glee club. Rachel struggles with a life-long personal issue, and Artie's dreams take him on an adventure. Additional guest stars include Molly Shannon, Idina Menzel and Jonathan Groff.
Like the episodes preceding it in the second half of the season, this week's episode of GLEE has a theme: finding one's voice. ‘Laryngitis' revolves around Puck's attempts to regain popularity after a trip to the skin doctor forces him to part with his signature mohawk, which in turn leads to his being deposited in a dumpster by the school's geeks, Rachel Berry's tonsillitis, and Kurt's attempts to connect with his father. Ultimately, though, ‘Laryngitis' left me wishing the writers would come down with a case of the illness themselves (I realize the tie-in is forced, but so is most of the show's writing).
In a recent Newsweek article, the now author, Ramin Setoodeh, posed the question: 'Heterosexual actors play gay all the time. Why doesn't it ever work in reverse?'
Today sees Seth's deconstructs Comden and Green (and Bernstein)! Seth writes, ' This song is a comedy classic. Enjoy! Brava Roz Russell and Edie Adams!'
In a recent Newsweek article, author Ramin Setoodeh asks 'Heterosexual actors play gay all the time. Why doesn't it ever work in reverse?' Hayes' co-star, stage and screen favorite Kristin Chenoweth has authored a response to the Newsweek article, which she refers to as 'horrendously homophobic.'
Today sees Seth's first Barbara Cook deconstruction! Seth writes, 'My favorite soprano singing my favorite love song, 'My White Knight' from THE MUSIC MAN. The phrasing, the tone...you can't beat it!'

According to GLEE creator Ryan Murphy, Jonathan Groff may be returning to GLEE next season. Groff had appeared on the show as the character 'Jesse St. James,' playing the love interest of Lea Michele's character 'Rachel Berry.'
It almost seems too easy to take a jab at this week's episode of GLEE through its episode title, ‘Bad Reputation.' Given the absolute disparity of quality between the episode last week and this one, however, I can't help but go for it: the writing this week could give the popular series a really bad rep.
Day 4 has Seth deconstructing Capathia Jenkins in FAME BECOMES ME. Seth writes ' This score is never talked about. Capathia is fantastic and so is everyone else in the cast. Marc Shaiman and Scott Whitman wrote it!'
Here, Lea Michele and Jonathan Groff sing 'Total Eclipse of the Heart', which will appear on the May 11th episode of GLEE. The song which was originally performed by Bonnie Tyler, was also famously featured in Dance of the Vampires of Broadway.
Day 3 has Seth deconstructing Liz Callaway in BABY. Seth writes 'Here she is! GREAT song GREAT singer. I now think that the last couple of high notes are mixed...can't decide!'
