Rogue Machine Theatre's PATERNUS Begins 7/18

As an "Off The Clock" late night entertainment option, Paternus connects audiences to Rogue Machine's edgy "not for primetime" new work. This is the same series that brought critical acclaim to shows like Small Engine Repair by John Pollono and Adam Rapp's Bingo With The Indians. Last season, Rogue Machine garnered twelve Ovation Award nominations after winning upwards of 50 awards (including Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle, LA Weekly, Ovation, Garland, and BEST PRODUCTION two years in a row) since its inception in 2008. The company was lauded as "Best Theatre Company of 2012" by the LA Weekly.

Inkwell Theater to Present LUIGI, Beginning 7/18

Emmy Award winner and Executive Director, Elliot Shoenman, and his son Artistic Director, Daniel Shoenman, founded the Inkwell Theater ten years ago, subsequently establishing national critical acclaim for the company with such productions as the Ovation Award nominated AfterMath, starring Annie Potts. On July 18th they will launch Louise Munson's (Liam Rector Scholar in Fiction) play Luigi, offering Los Angeles audiences a first look at her work when this World Premiere opens at the VS Theatre.

Tony Glazer, John Pollono, Robin Rothstein and Mark Jason Williams Join Talents for WHY BOTHER? at Planet Connections, Now thru 6/1

This summer, an award winning quartet of playwrights, Tony Glazer (In The Daylights, Film: Junction), John Pollono (Small Engine Repair, Lost and Found), Robin Rothstein (The Game Boy, On Deaf Ears), and Mark Jason Williams (Straight Faced Lies, Recovery), will join together for a night of one acts entitled Why Bother? directed by Andrew Block. Why Bother? Is being presented by Man Down Productions as part of the Planet Connections Festival. It begins performances tonight, May 14 and runs through June 1 at the Paradise Factory.

MCC Theater's 2014-15 Season to Feature World Premieres by Neil LaBute and Robert Askins, NYC Premieres & More

MCC THEATER has announced its four-show 2014-15 Main Stage Season, which runs Fall 2014 through Summer 2015. All productions will be staged at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street). This announcement comes on the heels of one of MCC's most acclaimed seasons yet, which began in Fall 2013 with the New York premiere of John Pollono's Small Engine Repair and continued with the Off-Broadway premiere of Robert Askins' Hand to God. The final production of MCC's 2013-14 Season, Penelope Skinner's The Village Bike starring Greta Gerwig and directed by Sam Gold, has its North American debut beginning May 22, 2014. 40 Full Productions, Music & Film Festivals and More Set for PCTF, 5/12-6/8

The full lineup has been announced for the 2014 Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, New York's premiere eco-friendly/socially-conscious theatre festival running from May 12-June 8 at the Paradise Factory (64 East 4th Street) upstairs & downstairs theaters. With 40 full productions, over 10 free staged readings, music & film festivals and more, one thing that makes Planet Connections unique is that each show partners with a charity and some of the ways they offer support are soliciting donations at shows, holding special benefit performances, fundraisers and/or talkbacks after performances with charity representatives. The music festival will take place at 8pm on May 21, 22 & June 5 at R Bar (218 Bowery).

MCC Theater's SMALL ENGINE REPAIR Extends Again Through Dec 21

MCC THEATER announced today that the New York Premiere of John Pollono's Small Engine Repair will now play through December 21, 2013. Keegan Allen, James Badge Dale, playwright/actor John Pollono, and James Ransone star in the production directed by longtime MCC collaborator Jo Bonney (MCC's The Break of Noon, Fat Pig). Small Engine Repair at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) had its official opening night on November 20, 2013 and was previously extended through December 15, 2013. The show must close December 21st to make way for the next Lortel tenant.

Marc Kudisch to Join Steven Boyer in MCC's HAND TO GOD; Full Cast Announced

MCC THEATER today announced that Steven Boyer, previously announced to reprise his celebrated, Obie Award-winning performance in MCC's upcoming Off-Broadway premiere of Robert Askins' Hand to God, will be joined in that production by Tony Award nominee Marc Kudisch as well asGeneva Carr, Michael Oberholtzer, and Sarah Stiles. Hand to God, which first appeared in New York to great acclaim at the Ensemble Studio Theatre (EST) in 2011, will be directed once again by Moritz von Stuelpnagel and begins at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) on February 20, 2014. An official opening night is set for March 10, 2014.
