Court Theatre Presents SIZWE BANZI IS DEAD 5/13-6/13

Court Theatre closes its 55th season with Athol Fugard, John Kani and Winston Ntshona's Sizwe Banzi is Dead, directed by Resident Artist Ron OJ Parson. The production will run May 13 - June 13, 2010 at Court Theatre, 5535 S. Ellis Avenue.

At a ceremony held at King's Place in London on Tuesday 17 November, Sir Antony Sher received the first Ability Media International (AMI) theatre award on behalf of the Royal Shakespeare Company and Baxter Theatre Centre for their production of The Tempest.

WHEN SHE DANCED, MASTER HAROLD & More Set For TimeLine Theater 2009-10 Season

TimeLine Theatre Company, dedicated to presenting plays inspired by history that connect to today's social and political issues, announces three of the four plays of its 2009-10 season, including the Chicago premiere of Aaron Sorkin's The Farnsworth Invention. A fourth play and the season's schedule are still to be announced.

GOD OF CARNAGE May Transfer Back To UK Stages

God Of Carnage will be transferring back to London in a revised format. The play will be returning to the West End in its original French setting as opposed to the 'Americanised' version of the show. Theater Royal Bath Productions owns the rights for a major UK tour of the play which is due to launch later this year.

Tony Todd Stars In THE ISLAND At Village Theater Thru 3/8

Tony Todd is in Los Angeles on stage for the next two weeks. The vet Broadway actor is this season's villain on Fox's '24' and also known for his 'Candyman' and 'Final Destination' movies. Now he's starring in the stage show 'The Island,' at the Village Theatre inside the Lucy Florence Cultural Center. 'The Island' was devised by South African actors John Kani, Winston Ntshona, and world renowned playwright Athol Fugard. This is Todd's first extended performance on a Los Angeles stage in more than 20 years. Co-starring in the two-man show is Lovensky Jean-Baptiste, who plays Todd's lieutenant on '24.'

Lantern Theater Company?s 15th Anniversary 2008-09 Season continues with Sizwe Bansi is Dead by Athol Fugard, John Kani and Winston Ntshona from January 30 ? March 1, 2009 at St. Stephen?s Theater in Center City. From South Africa's most celebrated playwright comes a drama as powerful today as in its first performance 35 years ago. Styles, an enterprising photographer, has a small storefront in a Port Elizabeth township. When Sizwe, a migrant worker, comes in to have his picture taken, the two explore issues of image and identity under South Africa's oppressive regime. Both soaring and personal, the play's attack on the dehumanizing laws of the apartheid era resonates with surprising humor and uplifting faith in the human spirit.
