For the 39th year, Peter Schumann's Bread and Puppet Theater (www.breadandpuppet.org.) will return to Theater for the New City December 2-19, 2010 with two new works, one for adults and one for family audiences.
Bread and Puppet Theater presents 'The Return of Ulysses' and 'Decapitalization Circus' : two separate performances presented in partnership with the Boston Center for the Arts as part of the Cyclorama Residency Series. Performances, Art Exhibit, and Cheap Art Sale run from January 24 through January 30. All held in the Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts (BCA), 539 Tremont St., South End, Boston. Holiday Cabaret Nights will help support the Urban Stages Outreach Program which brings theatre to children and families through over 200 programs to over 92 libraries in over 44 Council Districts throughout the five boroughs.

On Sunday 5 December 2010, Sydney's arts precinct throws open all its doors, inviting visitors to explore the many arts companies located at Pier 4/5 ('The Wharf') in Walsh Bay. Resident companies Sydney Theatre Company, Bangarra Dance Theatre, Sydney Dance Company, Australian Theatre for Young People, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, Regional Arts NSW, Accessible Arts, The Song Company, Gondwana Choirs and Sydney Children's Choir are all taking part. In addition Sydney Writers' Festival and Biennale of Sydney, who regularly present work in the area, will participate. Bell Shakespeare, who will make their home in neighbouring Pier 2/3, will also play a part. On offer will be opportunities to explore the work of each Company, to visit rarely seen behind-the-scenes spaces, participate in workshops, attend forums, take special tours and enjoy diverse performances of drama, music and dance.

For its final show of 2010, Sydney Theatre Company invites Tamás Ascher, one of the world's foremost interpreters of Chekhov, to direct the great tragicomedy Uncle Vanya, adapted by Andrew Upton. The production, featuring John Bell, Cate Blanchett, Sandy Gore, Hayley McElhinney, Anthony Phelan, Richard Roxburgh, Andrew Tighe, Jacki Weaver and Hugo Weaving is at Sydney Theatre from 9 November 2010 through to 1 January 2011, opening on Saturday 13 November 2010.

Playwright Robert Clyman (Tranced) invents a brilliant behind-the scenes exploration of the business of science.
