BWW Preview: New York Antiquarian Book Fair to Present THE ALEXANDER HAMILTON COLLECTION - Original Letters, Documents And Imprints, 3/9-12

A unique collection of original letters, documents and imprints relating to the life and times of Alexander Hamilton-the orphan immigrant founding father who fought for independence, founded our financial system, and fostered a government capable of surviving internal factions and foreign foes-will be unveiled at the New York Antiquarian Book Fair, March 9-12, at the Park Avenue Armory, booths E 33-35.

Connecticut Repertory Theatre Announces 2017 Nutmeg Summer Series Lineup

Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) Artistic Director Terrence Mann and Executive Producer Matthew J. Pugliese are pleased to announce the lineup for the 2017 Nutmeg Summer Series. The first season under the artistic leadership of Mann will include '1776', 'Noises Off' and 'Disney's Newsies'. The Nutmeg Summer Series will run June 1 through July 16. Subscriptions are now on sale for 2017.

Vocal Arts Ensemble To Perform CONSIDERING MATTHEW SHEPARD, 3/4-5

Pianist Sarah Cahill to Perform Lou Harrison Centennial Concert at Le Poisson Rouge

On Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 7pm, Le Poisson Rouge will present California-based pianist Sarah Cahill, 'a brilliant and charismatic advocate for modern and contemporary composers' (Time Out New York), in a concert celebrating the hundredth birthday of maverick composer Lou Harrison with a wide range of his music spanning half a century: exuberant dance music from his early years, dissonant complexity from the 1940s, and lyrical works from the 1980s, as well as music by his close friends and colleagues including Henry Cowell, John Cage, Johanna Beyer, James Cleghorn, and Frank Wigglesworth.

Pianist Sarah Cahill Performs Nationwide Lou Harrison Centennial Tour

In celebration of composer Lou Harrison's 2017 centennial, “sterling pianist and intrepid illuminator of the classical avant-garde” (The New York Times) Sarah Cahill will perform concerts of his music spanning half a century – exuberant dance music from his early years, dissonant complexity from the 1940s, and substantial works from the 1980s – as well as music by his close friends and colleagues including Henry Cowell, John Cage, Johanna Beyer, Merton Brown, James Cleghorn, and Frank Wigglesworth in a nationwide tour to cities including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston, Miami, Cleveland, Orlando, Maui, Chicago, and more. Her concerts will range from solo piano recitals featuring unpublished works by Harrison to performances of Harrison's Piano Concerto to chamber performances with well-known Harrison collaborators and scholars, including percussionist William Winant, who premiered the Varied Trio with Harrison.

Alan Gilbert to Conduct NY Philharmonic in A CONCERT FOR UNITY With Musicians Around the World, 6/8-10

In the final subscription concerts of his tenure as Music Director, Alan Gilbert will lead the New York Philharmonic joined by musicians from orchestras around the world in concerts celebrating the power of music to build bridges and unite people across borders. Those invited to participate include members of orchestras from Australia, China, Cuba, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Lebanon, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, Venezuela, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The program, taking place Thursday, June 8, 2017, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, June 9 at 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday, June 10 at 8:00 p.m., will include Mahler's Symphony No. 7. Special guest artists will include cellist Yo-Yo Ma, on June 8, and trumpet player Wynton Marsalis, on June 9.

CSO's Free Happy Hour Concert Series to Feature 14-Year-Old Granville Pianist

The CSO's Happy Hour concerts offer free, informal, after-work concerts performed preceded by complimentary appetizers, a DJ in the theatre lobby, and a cash bar. Led by CSO Associate Conductor Peter Stafford Wilson, Dance Rhythms will feature Granville-based, 14-year-old guest pianist Gavin George who will explore the music of another young talent, Felix Mendelssohn, who wrote the G Minor Piano Concerto at barely 20 years of age.

Richmond Jazz Society and Virginia Rep to Present ELLA AT 100 This April

The Richmond Jazz Society and Virginia Repertory Theatre announce Ella at 100, April 25, 2017, 7:00 P.M. at the Sara Belle and Neil November Theatre, 114 West Broad Street. This momentous evening of jazz will celebrate the 100th birthday of Ella Fitzgerald, a Newport News native. Hundreds of events are taking place around the world to celebrate her legacy this spring. The Richmond event falls on Fitzgerald's actual birthday.

William Daniels's 'THERE I GO AGAIN' Memoir Hits the Shelves Today
