National Black Theatre Closes Season with the Provocative KILL MOVE PARADISE

Ryan Jamaal Swain, Donnell E. Smith, Clinton Lowe and Sidiki Fofana will star in the award-winning playwright James Ijames' "Kill Move Paradise," opening at Dr. Barbara Ann Teer's National Black Theatre (NBT) this spring. The world premiere production is also the New York City debut of Ijames, a Whiting Award winner. Saheem Ali ("Nollywood," "The Booty Call," and "The Erlkings") will direct. The provocative production closes the historic theater's 48th season, "In Pursuit of Black Joy," and runs from May 31 through June 25.

Stages Repertory Theatre Announces 40th Anniversary Season

Stages Repertory Theatre's 2017-2018 Season celebrates the theatre's 40^th Anniversary with a mix of world and regional premieres, fan favorites and stories that reflect Houston's vibrant, diverse community. The season features 3 world and 4 regional premieres, collaborations with New York's One Year Lease Theater Company and Houston's Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center, Stages' inaugural Latina/o Theatre Festival, the 10^th anniversary of Stages' hallmark Panto holiday program for children and families, and a return to Miller Outdoor Theatre.

Playwrights Horizons Extends Zayd Dohrn's THE PROFANE

Playwrights Horizons has announced, following critical acclaim and popular demand, a one-week extension for The Profane, the world premiere of a new play by Horton Foote Prize winner Zayd Dohrn (Sick, Reborning) and directed by Kip Fagan (Grand Concourse at Playwrights, Exit Strategy).

Season Nine Announced at Playhouse on Park!

Select guests at Playhouse on Park theater this past Sunday night were the first to learn of the 2017-2018 Mainstage Series. Joined by Executive Director Tracy Flater and Co-Artistic Director Darlene Zoller, Co-Artistic Director Sean Harris spoke from the stage with fervor: 'We are passionate about these pieces, and that resonates [with] the cast, crew, and design team. And because we're so intimate here, it'll bleed over into the audience. [Theater] becomes a communal experience, a beautiful event.' Martin Zimmerman's SEVEN SPOTS ON THE SUN to Make New York Premiere at Rattlestick

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater in collaboration with The Sol Project will present the New York premiere of Martin Zimmerman's meditation on mourning, redemption and revenge, Seven Spots On The Sun, directed by 2016 Dora Award winner Weyni Mengesha, starring Flora Diaz (The Eyes of My Mother, Fox's 'Gotham'), Peter Jay Fernandez (Broadway: All the Way, Cyrano de Bergerac) and Flor De Liz Perez (CBS's 'The Good Wife,' West End: The Motherf**ker with the Hat, Dolphins and Sharks).

HAMLET to Transfer to Harold Pinter Theatre Following Sold-Out Run at Almeida Theatre

Olivier Award-winning director, Robert Icke's (Mary Stuart, The Red Barn, Uncle Vanya, Oresteia, Mr Burns and 1984), ground-breaking and electrifying production of William Shakespeare's Hamlet, starring BAFTA award-winner Andrew Scott (Moriarty in BBC's Sherlock, Denial, Spectre, Design For Living and Cock) in the title role, will transfer to the Harold Pinter Theatre, following a critically acclaimed and sell out run at the Almeida Theatre.

Planet Connections' 2017 Playwrights for a Cause Honors the NYCLU in July

Founded and curated by Glory Kadigan, the annual Playwrights for a Cause benefit, hosted by Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, addresses powerful social and topical issues in our society through the works of prominent playwrights. This year, the event will be Sunday, July 23, and will benefit the New York Civil Liberties Union with 'The Protest Plays,' stories of standing up to injustice written by celebrated authors, CATHERINE FILLOUX, LYLE KESSLER, JOSE RIVERA, and REGINA TAYLOR.

ALL THE FINE BOYS, Starring Abigail Breslin, Opens Tonight Off-Broadway

The New Group presents the world premiere of All the Fine Boys, a new play from writer and director Erica Schmidt, featuring Abigail Breslin, Isabelle Fuhrman, Joe Tippett and Alex Wolff. The show opens tonight, March 1, for a limited Off-Broadway engagement playing through March 26 at The Pershing Square Signature Center (Ford Foundation Studio Theatre, 480 West 42nd Street).
